So I just got a letter from Texas A&M letting me know that I am missing their pre-req of Biochemistry 2. Apparently I totally missed that their 5 credit hour requirement of Biochem must be made up of Biochem 1 and 2, not Biochemistry and its lab. I didn't even know there was such thing as Biochemistry 2!

I'm OOS and have searched high and low for a school around me that offers it and no one does and I can't seem to find anywhere that offers it though distance learning. I called the office and left a message, but in the meantime I am freaking out and feeling a little doomed (especially because this will be the fifth pre-req I'll have to complete online by May)!

Anyone know a school that offers Biochemistry 2 online or through distance learning?

Iowa State offers a second semester Biochem online course. Here's the link for BBMB 405 .

It's pretty pricey (about 1100), so I'd see if there are any that are cheaper, if I were you. I chose that one, because I was pressed for time.

I'd check with Texas A&M to see if it will do.

Oh my goodness, you are my savior! Maybe someone else will know of a cheaper one, but I'm just so thankful to at least know that is offered somewhere and that I still have a chance!

WSU has an online biochem - it's what the vet students here do if they don't have enough biochem. I'm don't have the info on me right now, but it's definately an option.

I am currently taking Biochemistry. Because I had graduated, it is costing me $6400 for a six-credit hour course. OUCH. But hey - the semester is nearly done...

I believe the U of MN has a distance learning/online Biochem, I think both semesters.

If your school doesn't offer Biochem 2, you can substitute it with a cell biology or endocrinology course. That's what I had to do since my undergrad only offered one biochem lecture. CALL (don't email...seriously...) TAMU and speak to Yolanda. She'll want you to email her the syllabus of both your current biochem course and the cell bio/endocrine course to see if it will work. Mine worked out that way.

I assumed alcohol was inhibiting your abilities. Not sure what zany's excuse was.

My altered state of mind was a plant based one. Also this is the time of year A&M sends those letters out.

I got it. I did live in CA for 10+ years you know:laugh:

I did not know. Only rounding out year one on the forums. Haven't studied up on my SOV history quite enough. When is the exam?

The national certification exam is held annually on Oct 2nd (or whenever the VMCAS deadline is). You must have 2 years of eduction in the pre-vet forum, plus a certificate that you have graduated from cranky old man desensitivity training to register. Sample questions can be PM-ed to you from time to time to study. All questions are multiple choice.

Well gosh. Guess I'll start preparing. Does anyone have any old study guides?

My excuse was complete and utter exhaustion from studying way too much and partying way too little.

Sounds like poor life decisions not an excuse.

On a side note, my school offers 3 credit hour lectures and separate 2 credit hour labs - I don't need the lab for my degree, but I have the option of taking it if I need it for vet school apps. Other people may have similar options hm..
