"An Ivy League-trained Queens dentist was shot dead execution-style Sunday in a Forest Hills playground as his 4-year-old daughter watched in horror.
Daniel Malakov, 34, was shot three times in the chest just before 11 a.m. at the Annadale Playground by Public School 175, where he was meeting his ex-wife to hand the little girl off for a visit.
Malakov, who held degrees from Columbia University and NYU, won custody of little Michelleka in the past week, his grieving family said."

I found it hilarious how the news reports the dead dentist as "Ivy-League trained dentist" when it is totally irrelevant. I am not saying the news itself is hilarious. But of course, you have to be an ass, as always.

By the way, are you saying that this man was shot just because he went to an IVY?

I didn't even apply for dental schools yet.
And no, I do not love the Ivys.
I find it ridiculous when people bring up the name "Ivy" in totally
irrelevant situations, as many sdners and this news reporter do.

While the OP wrote the title as a sarcasm (as an attempt to bash the Ivy leaguers),
I genuinely think that stuff like this is one of the reasons why people might want to go to an Ivy school.

Even when the Ivy degree is totally irrelevant to something (as in this case), people mention about it. This is a proof that there is more respect for Ivys.

I know what you mean, I won't post too many more here.
But it annoys me sometimes when people are getting so unrealistically anti-Ivy (claiming that the world doesn't care where you went to school), when in fact the world actually cares about the Ivy name.
