They said we probably wont hear until next week because the dean has to sign off on all decisions after they are made.

Yeah, I realize that we wont hear anything until the end of next week with them mailing everything via snail mail . BUT, that will not stop me from obsessing and stalking the mailman . I just cant help myself!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!

Packamylase, I interviewed 10/13 also. Is CCOM your 1st choice?
Yes, it is. Actually, I told them it was my #1 choice. It felt kind of weird doing that, putting myself out like that. I hope it was reciprocated.
I was the tall blonde from North Carolina, BTW.

. . about what has a few of you enamored with CCOM? I think they have some decent clerkship sites, but beside that I wasn't too excited about their curriculum or facilities. Am I missing something? Living near Chicago would be fantastic, but their students dont seem to perk up until they get ready to rotate. Seriously though, please share w/me your opinions.

I really liked CCOM... good location near a big city so my boyfriend has a good chance to find a well paying job... my parents are in Milwaukee but my friends are in Des Moines so at CCOM I am close to everyone they have good boards passing rate and a lot of hospitals in the area so I think that for rotations and residencies it will be easier to get a good placement without having to move facilities were not as amazing as DMU but I don't need anything fancy! when I was there and all the students that I saw were very friendly and so was the staff I think it will be a good fit for me!
congratulations to those that just received word from CCOM. could the accepted individuals enlighten us on on thier gpa and mcat scores, so some of us who are waiting for interviews can stop having heart tremors and palapations. that would be greatly appreciated!
out-of-state, 3.4, 32Q
hey berrygirl, i'm just wondering, are you picking CCOM over DMU just on the basis of clinical sites or is there something else? My three top choices are DMU, CCOM, and UNECOM...now i'm just trying to weigh the schools before sending in the check

I have something like a 3.46 and a 28 on the MCAT...

DMU was my first choice up until my parents decided to move to Milwaukee. My whole family was from Des Moines and it would have been an easy adjustment for me to go there. I am really close with my family, however, and so once they moved to Milwaukee (which is like 1.5hr drive from CCOM) CCOM became my slightly superior choice. To be honest, if I would have gotten accepted into both I would have had a hard time picking between the two. BUT, fate chose for me DMU put me on a waitlist and that solved my dilemma
I think it comes down to your personal preference and gut feeling My DMU interview didnt go as well as my CCOM interview. I suspect it was because DMU was my first and I was really nervous while at CCOM I was much more relaxed and had much more fun. Even though this was more my problem than a problem with the school it still left me feeling uneasy about DMU at the end of the day
I am sure this is not much help to you, sorry!
Good luck with your choice! Maybe we will be classmates next year!
I have a 3.5 GPA and 24 MCAT (10-BS, 7-PS, 7-VR Q-Writing)
I also think that my experiences including an internship in India and my research, my job in breast cancer, and my shadowing of a CCOM alumnus helped make up for my slightly lower mcat score. I went to the UNIVERSITY of WISCONSIN-MADISON and now I work with the MEDICAL COLLEGE OF WISCONSIN. (so I would be OOS) I think the interview really gave me the opportunity to make my case and it helped me get in!!! I am so grateful!!! CCOM is my top choice. They have some awesome rotations incl the famous Cook County Hospital. And around 75-80% of the students specialize and get some good residencies according the the match list they gave at interview.
Good Luck to All!
