I recently have considered going to get my PharmD. However, I graduated from college a few years ago. I never took some of the prereqs that many school require, such as economics, microbiology, and speech. I have a degree in bio, and have taken finance courses, but never a speach course. Do I need to go back to a community college and take some more classes to be able to apply for a PharmD. It seems so silly. Many of the poeple who apply dont have a degree yet, and it would just be a pain in the ass to have to go back to school, after completing a BS to take some classes, so that I can go back to school again.....

You just have to do whatever it takes to get there...that's how life works

I have a BS in biochemistry, but have spent the past year taking 7 different courses at the local community college because there were so many prereqs that I never took in college. And, I even declined my acceptance to UCSF because they required me to retake some of my out-of-state coursework.
Bottom line: you have to take the classes they tell you to take if you actually want to enter a PharmD program.

There are many people in your position. The people in my pre rec classes all have previous degrees and are going back for the pre recs. I have a bacelors, masters and was a teacher for 7 years. It has taken me 2 years to complete all of the needed pre recs. I made the decision to go into pharmacy because that is where my interest and desire drove me. Nothing great in life comes easy.

Even though some may not have a bachelor's, they took the required courses to apply. So take the classes already so you can apply too! It's not silly at all! If you speak to the school, they might waive a few (non-science) courses. My school required 1 year of English but they allowed me to take only 2 quarters. They might not be so lenient on the science courses though.

oh.. and dont wait TOO long. I think they'll only accept science classes that go back 5 years or so.. I'm not too sure on the number. Just know that if it was too long ago.. you might have to retake them.
