hey guys...i thought we should start a thread listing how much each school's deposit is, so we can to be prepared (to maybe get an extra job or two 😉). i looked on a couple of schools' websites, and they don't have them listed. so if anyone wants to post what they know...

Most initial deposits range from 500-1500, then they require another one around May which is another 500-1500, both non-refundable. Then a last deposit is needed sometime in the summer to secure your spot usually which is about 1000 but that one is refundable I believe. All go towards your tuition. I also heard some schools require you to put money down for your "dental kit" as well which ranges from 500-1500.

BU - $3000

USC - $3000 (accepted early then first $500, $500, $1000, $1000)
- the info is in the info packet they sent after the interview

Columbia - $3000 (first $2000, then $1000)

anyone knows..NYU?

For the first round (accepted on dec 1) you have 45 days from the day the offer was made to make the deposit to keep your spot. After that the time goes down (to 30 days I believe, then 14 days as you get later in the cycle)

Thanks Bruin!.

Also, anyone know if its true about May 1rst? Where if you have are holding multiple deposits and trying to decide.....May 1rst the schools can see where you are holding?

I think it is May 1st....last year was May 1st and I remember May 1st being mentioned a few times at my interviews.

Keep in mind most dental schools apply the deposit money toward the first semester tuition/fees so unless you accept offers from more than one school the money is really a down payment.

bump, thought this might come in handy for some folks when deciding!
