I applied when I just applied for my Texas license last week. It cost $300, but it's worth it, as I'll probably need to apply for another state license in a year's time when I get a real job. To me the $300 is a small price for not having to fill out all that paperwork again.

I did it primarily because the state of Ohio requires it. When I looked at licensing several years ago, Ohio was the only one I knew of that required FCVS. There may be more states that are requiring it, though, so it may be worthwhile to look into states you might be interested in.

I did it. mostly because I was retarted and didn't realize I didn't *have* to do it. but as I was getting my ny stuff and don't know where I will end up, I figured it was well worth it. makes it easier. its worth it.

So, how does this thing work? I past on it my first time through because of the sticker shock.

For those that think it's worth it, why?

I'm now finishing up credentialing at my second hospital and its pretty time consuming. How would this help?

Finally, is it possible to jump on the bandwagon after you're already licensed?

Take care,
Jeff

You make one request and they send your USMLE scores, state licensing history/medical board history, residency training information, medical school transcript, etc.

So its more or less a 'bank' that you deposit everything at once... then when the time comes to show what you got, its one call/email/whatever and all the info is sent?

Im not there yet, but will remember this for moonlighting...

You didn't mention practice history. Does it also track where/when you're credentialed?

In my ever-so-short experience filling these things out, it seems this is a large part of the paperwork.

Take care,
Jeff

That's a good question. Not sure if it takes care of that or not. I've only used FCVS once (for state license).
