Midwestern University Glendale class of 2016!
Started by nicolej5
Right on. They received my goods 8/16 & I am still hoping for an interview preferably when I am home (Tucson) for x-mas break. I have friends in the DO & PA programs and they're happy with Midwestern despite it being an obviously expensive school.
Yea it's definitely a hefty investment, which is why I'm just waiting to here back from NAU where tuition is much much less. But, if NAU doesn't work out I am more than happy with MU. I was impressed.
If anyone interviewed this past week (12/7) and have any additional questions please feel free to ask! I hope you all enjoyed your visit and we look forward to seeing you next summer!
I submitted my deposit! MWU Glendale, here I come!
Here are my questions:
- What's the best way to find a roommate for an on-campus apartment?
- Did you sign up for the meal plan and if so did you include it in your financial aid?
- Is there a Facebook group for the class of 2016?
Here are my questions:
What's the best way to find a roommate for an on-campus apartment?
Did you sign up for the meal plan and if so did you include it in your financial aid?
Is there a Facebook group for the class of 2016?
Congrats on your acceptance GoRow!
I don't personally live on campus, but I'm less than 1/4 mile away in the apartments, so I'm not too sure about the on-campus housing. But I found my roommate from our Facebook page and it's been great so far, even more so since we bounce questions off each other and practice if needed.
Again, I'm not sure if there are meal plans for people who live on campus, but I typically will buy something in the cafeteria or bring my lunch most days. I'm on whats called the "Thrifty budget" for financial aide and haven't really had any money issues yet, but I budgeted some money in just to be safe.
As far as the Facebook group goes, I just made the page!

I am having my interview on 1/11! I am super nervous! Any advice?
Hey that's my birthday! lol...anyways....the interview will be a panel of 3 and you will be with another applicant. Read up on vision 2020 concepts. Be sure to not appear to be competing with the other applicant, bounce ideas off each other and build on each others answers (unless of course you completely disagree with an answer they gave). I think this gives an impression that you work well with others. Take your time with answers, don't stumble. Don't bs, answer truthfully. You'll go on a tour of the campus while you are waiting your turn to interview. There's snacks and drinks provided. You'll be fine. Oh, have questions that you can ask at the end.

- Don't be nervous. Be prepared, then relax and enjoy the experience.
- Review your PT-relevant experience, re-read your essay(s) from your PTCAS application, and think about the 3 most important things that set you apart from other applicants (1 or 2 to bring up as needed, and a backup in case you share one with another interviewee in your group). The interviewers have your essay(s) in front of them during the interview, and during mine, they asked each of us to elaborate on a particular part of our essay.
- Review the MWU faculty information and note who specializes in what. When you arrive, you'll be given a sheet of paper with the names of the faculty that will be your interviewers. Then, find a way to work their specialty into the interview (i.e. a question or a statement about how your interests align with said specialty). I was able to use this strategy both for the "Why MWU Glendale?" question, as well as one of my questions for the interviewers at the end of the interview.
- Be prepared for the "Why MWU Glendale?" question (something other than the weather 😎)

I agree with everything in this post. Only difference in my case was there were 2 interviewers and 3 of us interviewees.
DEFINITELY read up on the APTA's Vision 20/20. Even if they don't ask you about it directly, talking about it or using buzzwords like "Direct Access" and "Professionalism" will make you a more memorable candidate.
Again, don't be nervous. Be prepared, then relax and enjoy the experience. You're gonna kill it!
I know this is not what this thread is for but I feel like it is better to ask here rather than make a whole new one. I am looking at applying to Midwestern this July but I just noticed that they have a campus in AZ and IL. Are there separate applications for the schools? I just was seeing if someone could clarify it for me 😀 thanks!
Yup, you have to apply to both on PTCAS

Oh ok so there are two separate applications that makes more sense. Thank you for clarifing that for me nismo13 🙂

Anyone interviewing this Friday, March 1st at the Glendale location? I am comforted reading all of your words of encouragement and feel a bit more at ease with my nerves, although I'm still quite nervous and excited all at the same time!
good luck! I'm sure you will do fine!
Seems to be late in the game for me to have hope for an interview. Anybody know if they have anymore interviews planned or if the class is full?
I received an email today stating that I got an interview so the class isn't full.
I interviewed last last Friday and they said that they have about 65% of the seats full. I called today and they are having 2 more rounds of interviews. I'm a little worried because this means there are maybe 15-20 seats left. I interviewed with 17 people so assuming that the next two groups will have the same amount of people there will only be about 15-20 out of 50 getting acceptances. However, I'm guessing at least 10 people will decline so my odds aren't terrible. How long did it take to get a decision after you interviewed? Also, I heard you can look in your PTCAS to see if your were accepted earlier than the school contacts you. Do you look in pt designations under status?

Cool, thanks for the info. Good luck to you, hopefully I can call you a classmate soon! Yea, I looked at my portal on the MWU website and it changed so I could see the accepted student checklist. I think I got a call a few days after that. I can't remember exactly how long it took to hear back but it definitely wasn't more than 2 weeks, I'm thinking 1-1.5 or so.
It took a week for them to reply to me to let me know I was accepted. I checked the portal on the day that they said it may be up and it showed Accepted. They called me the next day. PTCAS wont tell you anything.
Good luck with your interview. As nicolej5 said, hope to be able to call you a classmate!

Heres the link to that Facebook group again. Feel free to join to meet your fellow classmates, look for roommates from people in your class, or ask current students any questions you have!
Look forward to meeting you all in a couple more months!

That's great, hopefully you choose mwu! I was between mwu and another arizona school. I chose mwu because: I liked the campus feel, the professors/faculty were very kind and approachable, the current students were awesome, there's a sense of community that I got (intramurals, clubs, just in general hanging out during lunch and class), the labs were pretty nice, there's a sim lab thing they do (if I remember that right from my interview), it seemed like a "we're in this together" instead of a "screw you I want to be top of the class." The other school I had an offer from seemed sort of "empty." I saw one other student the whole time I interviewed. It was also more or less one building versus the campus mwu has.
Ah, I just got off the waitlist as well! Can't wait to meet all my new classmates!!

for you all that were accepted, what is the cost going to run you? (tuition, and total cost after interest) Is there in-state vs. out of state tuition?
there's a cost sheet on their website. no instate vs out of state it's private.
