What is toughest class you have taken?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Toughest: Linear algebra
Easiest: Anatomy lecture - she's like 90 and gives all the questions and answers to the test the day before. Fortunately I took the lab too so I actually learned something.
Most interesting: Immunology

Hmm...nothing has been too tough so far but I guess in Biochem I had to work a little more than usual for the A. Easiest class (I mean this literally so dont jump my case about it) was orgo 2 for me. Most interesting class is probably immunology.

And yea, linear algebra is a #@$^%

Easiest (prob bc I enjoy them more)=Biochem and organic chem
most difficult= Ecology

Also name the easiest class and most interesting class you have taken.

The toughest class I've ever started (but not completed) was Quantum Mechanics. Not my idea of fun to sit there normalizing wave functions, while my professor stood over the chalkboard writing long strings of complex equations and proofs. I think the guy talked to the chalkboard more often than to the class, as evidenced by the chorus of snoring I heard coming from the seats. 😱

The toughest class that I completed was definitely physical chemistry. You know I passed the class and did reasonably well, but I don't seem to recall what actually happened the whole time. Perhaps this is an element of PTSD? 😕

I didn't have many "easy" classes while in college, but I'd have to say perhaps, Introduction to Poetry. Very fun and not challenging.

The most interesting class would definitely have to be Introduction to Neuroscience. This introduced me to the concept of the inverse problem and opened my eyes to how much we really don't know about how our brain works. Besides, our prof was a real goof ball, which I found refreshing and entertaining. 😀

Toughest: Calc II (the most failed class at my school)
Easiest: Organic Chem( I really liked the class)
Most Interesting: Multivariable Calc (Calc III) /Anatomy

stastical mechanics

I'm not looking forward to biochem next semester. The teacher is so freakin' hard. 🙁

don't fear biochem. People scared me sooo bad going into that class, but actually end up finding to be my most enjoyable UG class (I really felt like it brought everything together). I even ended up chosing to do Biochem for grad school🙂

Just keep up with everything, and try to enjoy it!

Toughest (but doable): Biochem
Easiest: Spanish 1
Most interesting; Neuroscience (by far)

Toughest: Intro to computer science (in it right now)
Easiest: Organic Chemistry 2 (probably because it was over summer)
Interesting: Self Defence for Men and Women (hands down!!)

Toughest: Biophysical Chemistry or Calc based Physics II followed by Calc Based Physics I
Easiest: Calculus II (or III)
Most interesting: Musical Theater

hardest: physical chemistry, there is no comparison

easiest physics I :A+
hardest ecology : C

don't take ecology. it sounds like an extremely easy class until the professor sticks differential equations in it and teaches out of the book and tells you "you have to figure out what will be on the test" and doesn't follow his own course syllabus.

in fact any course that doesn't have specific goals and doesn't tell you "you have to know this for this class" tends to go towards the difficult side. in this sense, studying for the mcats wasn't that hard except for the verbal section.

Hardest: Currently taking Physical Chemistry, I think the teacher is on crack
Easiest: General Chemistry/Spanish I
Most Interesting: Interpretation of Fiction
Most Wacked out teacher: Art Appreciation, he made fun of everyone and cursed a lot but he had "tenure" so he couldn't be fired 😡 😡 😡

Toughest: Systemic Physiology
Easiest: Organic Chemistry 2
Interesting: Intro to Food Science

toughest: Calc. Based Physics II, (teacher was actually a cowboy, which was sweet)

easiest: Emergency Care/ Paramedic First aid 👍

Toughest: Cell Biology- the prof's name wasn't bair (pronounced bear) for no reason
Easiest: Bio 101 and 102
Most Interesting: Medical Microbiology or Ancient Christianity

Toughest: Radiological Environmental Engineering :scared:

Easiest: Engineering Economics 😴

Interesting: History of Technology (watch Discovery channel for credit) 😀

Quick note: I still have yet to take the upper div. science courses.
Toughest: Anatomy, boring instructor, TA *****.
Easiest: Intro to Painting. It reminds me of being in kindergarden when the teacher just praises everything you do. "Oh, that's good Jimmy, that white blob is so pretty."
Interesting: Latin, ancient text translation, fun and the instructor loved the subject.

Toughest: Human Physiology
Easiest: Biology of Sex

Toughest: Calc III (the exam questions were pulled out of the test bank's a&&) so far but the hardest I will take will be upper-div E&M at my school and/or P Chem.

Easiest: tie for Immunology and The Holocaust. Immuno the prof gave us a study guide that if answered all the questions properly and then memorized we aced the exams. Holocaust was just 2 10-page papers.

Most Interesting: The Holocaust - Our prof brought in people from all backgrounds to talk to us - a survivor, someone who had grown up in hiding in a Christian orgphanage in France, one of the German cops. Plus the prof was cool too.

Toughest: Advanced systemic physiology...darn lab would last from around 3pm til 11pm!!

Easy: Genomics

Most interesting: Developmental neurobiology or anatomy

toughest: quantum mechanics, general relativity, biophysics (AKA physical biochemistry)
easiest: all the intro classes
most fun: ... ...
😡 my college suck! (no, im kidding)
didn't have many fun classes when i was taking them, but think back, i liked a lot of my classes very well.

Medical Microbiology

I agree. I did find it interesting, but I basically lived in the lab that quarter.

To put the difficult in perspective, let me just share that the professor's wife baked us all chocolate chip cookies to eat while we took the final to lessen the pain. It did help. 🙂

Toughest: Analytical mechanics (I would say that pretty much all of the physics classes for my physics major were MUCH harder than any of my other classes, and this one was the hardest of those.)

Easiest: Introduction to C++ programming.

Most Interesting: Either "Theology of Death", "Honors Islam", or "Philosophical Topics in Film and Literature" (a class that attempts to answer the question of how can invest in a world that breaks your heart).

Hardest: Freshman Bio and Chem, they are used as weed out classes instead of OChem. Not that OChem is easy at all.
Most Interesting: Infectious Disease, took it as a required liberal arts science course. That is what got me interested in being a doctor.

Toughest: Physical Chemistry - if you take the toughest parts of chemistry, physics, and calc and combine them, you get this class.

Easiest: World religions - the study guide was the test.

Most interesting - Sex and Contemporary Society - it was a class about sex and sociology, what's not to like?

Hardest: Tie between instrumental chem physical chem
Easiest: Hebrew 2. It was my last semester, I didn't want to do anything, picked up my cap and gown right before the final so I was spacing out during the final, but the prof. liked me, so she still gave me an A.
Most Interesting: Theory of Comedy. The prof. was this hilarious old guy who always talked about farting and having sex.

Instrumental Really? I think that would vary with the prof. Ours is just really boring!

Hardest: physiology
Easiest: microbiology

Toughest: 2nd semester physical chemistry
Easiest: any one of a number of biology "seminars"

Hardest: Hilbert spaces/functional analysis, lie algebra, roman civilization
Easiest: intro to psych (i didnt even take my text book out of the plastic wrap for this class), intro macro and micro econ, and intro theology
Most interesting: Quantum physics, pchem, advanced macro econ, topology, abstract algebra, and paradoxes and infinity

intro to psych? my intro to psych was bell curved and I barely managed to get a B+.

easiest class: Intro to speech and communication

I'm having trouble with general chemistry.....how do you guys study for this class. theirs so many equations etc and no matter how much I study I have trouble on the tests. I HATE chemistry😡 🙁

I'm taking genetics right now too and its preety tough as well. The science is just getting and tougher.....I was about to pass out on the last test...seriously.

Hardest: Medical Imaging Systems - Graduate level engineering course filled with physical theory about diffraction patterns, light beams, magnetic waves, absorption, and a bunch of other crap that has to do with CTs, MRIs, PET scans, and other imaging systems - only class EVER where I had to do triple and quadruple integrals!!

Third midterm was also on the same day as the final of the same course - what kind of prof gives two tests in one day!!?!? These two also fell on the same day for Physiological Foundations II final exam and the Physiological Foundations Lab II final, bringing the grand total to 4 upper level engineering exams in one very, very sad day.

Easiest: Who Framed Koreans in Japan? (A sociology course about Koreans in Japan, answer was easy, nobody framed anyone).

Easiest Class - Foundations of Islamic History

Toughest and Most Interesting: Topics course on Origami*

* - Believe it or not, that class was a bitch. We studied the math and engineering behind origami folds and shapes.

It was more so tough b/c you had to learn to work your paper into shapes and conceptualize 3D shapes out of a flat piece of paper.

It was rough, but it was also interesting that by the end of the class we had built a variety of things, including an attempt to reproduce Robert Lang's Black Forest ****oo Clock which we may or may not get done by classes end.

Lang was the most prominent origamist(?) we followed in reproducing his wildlife and structures.

A couple of the members of the class have broken off and are attempting to reproduce the NYC skyline pre 9/11 out of paper. I believe their goal is to use just two sheets of paper for the finished product - an east and west side that will interlock. Interesting to see if they can get it done.

Physical chemistry! 35% on the first test...not looking good for me this year...

At least in my school, the only ones that did well in physical chemistry are the anal retentive ones that should have been accountants anyway.

With that, pat yourself on the back for failing their entrance exam.

Toughest: Honors World Litt since 1863
Easiest: Cell Biology
Most Interesting: Animal Physiology

hardest: This seems lame to me, but so far the toughest class I've taken is Italian I... I'm takin it now and I'm just really struggling to keep up
easiest: so far all of the sciences have been super easy, I started Ochem I this semester and so far it is the easiest class I have (I've been told that will change)

hardest: cardiopulmonary pathophysiology
easiest: elementary stats

you actually love org chem
i wish i had your brain

Toughest: Tie between 'Dynamic Systems Control II' and 'Chemical Process Principles' 👎
Easiest: Meh, can't decide...
Most interesting: Cardiovascular Bioengineering (we're spending the entire semester looking at changes in the mother's CV system during human pregnancy)
