So I'm reading my physiology book and I've noticed it has more equations than my physics book! Whoa. Do I need to memorize all these equations? And I'm reading Costanzo, which is simplified relative to some other physio books.

Thanks

Costanzo is quite simplified so I'm not sure of which equations you speak. Respiratory has some and you definitely will need those. There might be some in renal regarding anion gap, etc. and those are important as well. Basically, everything in Costanzo is important...for classes anyway...don't know about the real world.

I had to memorize them all. Its not really that much!

We had to memorize some, but it really wasn't much. Just ask your prof. 🙂

When you say memorize do you mean literally? $hit I'm not even going to buy that book I thought the BRS by Costanzo would be enough. Somebody tell me if I'm wrong.

You are not wrong. Unless you are a hopeless gunner BRS Patholgy should be enough. Having a good grasp of the concepts in BRS, limited as it is, is better then having an imperfect knowledge of the esoterica in a larger, more detailed book.

IN fact, I doubt if many clinicians know more then what is presented in the BRS books. Anything else is just reference material.

I'm gonna listen to your advise panda and not buy any text books except for anatomy atlas, histo atlas, brs books and high yield. Oh yeah did you mean to say physio?

I took qweeq11's question in regards to memorizing all the equations in Costanzo's BRS Physiology. Yes, that is what you should know. I did not use any other physiology book other than First Aid, Costanzo, and some Kaplan books I have.

Thanks for the feedback folks. I actually have Costanzo's normal textbook (which is paperback and not that much thicker than her BRS book). I flipped thru the BRS book the other day and there are fewer equations, so I may just memorize the ones in BRS and skip the others in the main text.

I thought that BRS Physio was instrumental in rocking the NBME shelf exam at the end of the class. BRS Path is the bible also.
