Last week I took NBME #1 and scored slightly over 230. I just took NBME #3 today and my score went down 14 points! Is this normal, or do I need to be worried (currently I'm a little more than concerned)? Its funny, I don't feel any dumber today than usual. However, I've spent the last week doing low-yield stuff like gross, embryo, and behavior sci, but I think I'm just making excuses here. Any input or opinions on the two forms?

Form 3 sucks, I've decided.

one month prior, form 1: 216
three weeks prior, form 2: 240
two weeks prior, form 3: 226 (??!!)
today, 150 question nbme test: 82% (roughly 243).

see what i mean?!

It's good to hear that someone has had a similar experience. Today has been an all-time study low. Nothing like studying for an entire week to watch your score drop like a rock. Definitely not a good demonstration of positive reinforcement.

The same thing happened to me!! My score went down 15 points on form 3!

I have to agree, I actually did quite well on form 3 but it was HARD!!! I jotted down a bunch of questions to look up and found out later that I got almost all of them wrong. My score went way up from my other NBME (#2) but I took 2 before I had even cracked FA.

Good luck.

I just took form 3 today...it is my 1st nbme and got a 500 (219)...definately thought I did better...definately tons of tough biochem and molecular bio questions. At least maybe when I take #2, my score will go up like ya'll say it does...

Same thing happened to me!!

Form 2 (about 3 weeks before test) - 211
Form 1 (10 days before test) - 221
Form 3 (2 days before test - i know, i'm ******ed for doing that...) - 195!!!!!

So I freaked out and pushed my test back by two weeks... i'm taking it on Saturday... no more practice tests for me!!! 🙂. I'm trying to forget about that crazy 195... just hoping for a 220+ on test-day.... 😱

I already posted this on another thread, but here it is again:

Form 2 (pre-studying) - 186
Form 3 (after 2 months of studying) - 195 !!!!! :scared:

I took Form 3 five days before my test. I couldn't push my date back any further because there was no time left before 3rd year started. The only thing left to do was to take it like a champ and study really hard the last 5 days.

Actual Step 1 score - 239

Wow! Nice job whiskies...so there is hope despite a crap form 3 score...lets hope form 2 is a bit more forgiving

alright u guys have totally scared me into not taking form 3. I already took form 1 and 2. Should I just skip to form 4 AND do the released 150qs?

I'm taking it next Fri and I definitely do NOT need a confidence breaker.

I took forms 3 and 4 in two consecutive days and I actually thought form 4 was a little harder (dropped three points), but I didn't think either was too terrible. I'd say take both if you've got the time; just don't let a low score take the wind out of you knowing that many others have had a similar experience.

Has anyone rebounded from a form 3 catastrophe to crush form 4?

I'm gonna agree on this since Funkless thought Form 3 was easy but thought 1 was hard. I guess it's all relative. I've done 1 tho, but also thought it was really easy. I'm thinking they put 3 and 4 to better reflect the new content ie heavier on the cell and molec/immuno which people on this board are reflecting.
