hey all - if anyone here is at, or is familiar with, or has even recently interviewed at OHSU - i'd love to know what you think of the program. i would give my left arm to end up in portland, and am curious if the dept there has a particular reputation, strengths, weakness, etc etc. from perusing their website, i can only glean so much information . . . thought i'd give you all a shot and see if anyone has anything to say . . .

thanks everyone

Portland is a great town, and OHSU certainly belongs in that vast group of "Not Famous, But Darn Good" residency programs. I interviewed there and some details I recall (w/o referencing my notes):
- 3 day sign out with one preview day
- Highly structured CP curriculum
- Residents on blood bank physically participate in massive transfusions
- Taking call is weighted toward second year
- Residents rotate at the VA with the usual increase in responsibility and decrease in workload
- There are 3 PAs to help with grossing and some Autopsy assistants to help with... y'know, Autopsies
- Residents don't have personal desks
- They do get their own laptop
- Friendly staff
- Old facility on a hill with few parking spots

Any specific questions?

great feedback. thanks! if i had any specific questions they would render me - as they say in the EM forum - a Fatty McFatty Pants (i.e. i would want to know if i could match there . .. the most annoying SDN topic forum-wide)

we'll see next year . . .

thanks again
