Placing Your Fingers On The Screen

Does anyone know if you are allowed to put your fingers on the screen? If it isn't cheating I think it could be helpful for the angles.

If anyone knows of a link to official rules, it would be greatly appreciated.

I think it is an explicit rule that you cannot touch the screen with any objects, including your hands. I am sure if you put your fingers a couple inches away from the screen you might be ok, but if you touch the screen your test is subject to being voided. The people at the prometric center are pretty strict and are constantly walking around during the test right behind your back.

Thanks for the info, that's quite helpful. I guess Iwill have to learn how to do the angles a different way now.

ask your proctors before you take the test. but be prepared for them to say not, so practice a new technique. if they say they don't care, then hey use your fingers

No problem. The angles actually really are not that bad on the real DAT. Out of the 15 angle sets I would say maybe 1/2 or less will have angles within a few degrees of eachother. The remainder were pretty explicit when it came to deciphering between the sets. I thought CrackPAT angles on the last few tests if you order the upper-tier package were very comparable.

I challenge anybody to find where that rule is explicitly stated. The ADA website says you can't use the markers on anything but the sheets and that you can't use measuring devices. Well I guess that leaves out your eyes as well. I asked and they said, "Go ahead, you can touch it all you want, maybe they'll get us new screens then."

I suggest practicing w/o touching the screen. Putting your fingers b/w the screen and your eyes can still make the angles a lot easier. The moment I got to the center I asked my very friendly proctor if it was okay to touch the screen, he said sure touch it all you want. I was still too scared of getting my score voided so I never touched the screen but did have my hands in front of me 👍

Just make sure to ask!
