At the suggestion of CorporateFatCat, here is a thread for those waitlisted for the class of 2015. Being waitlisted is arguably more tortuous to the psyche than being accepted or denied, since it prolongs the "what if" and makes you go crazy wondering "I'm so close! If only I'd spent a little more time on my PS or gotten a higher grade in Orgo..."

I agree being on the waitlist is almost harder. I'm grateful to have made it, since they reject soooo many great people, but now we're stuck not knowing when or if we'll hear anything!

i love how they said we could possibly hear back as late as the second week of classes....

I was on the Colorado wait list last year (OOS). I specifically talked to the admissions office about the possibility of being called off and they told me to definitely take an offer from another school (which they said they expected I would get), that rarely are people called off the wait list before 4/15 (although it did happen last year), and that most of the movement does occur right after 4/15 (as with most other schools).

So, there is definitely still hope, but you have 4 months of waiting to do! Good luck. Patience is not my strong point!

So, the other day I read on one of the threads that ppl knew what #they were on the alternate list. How did they know that?

Some schools offer this information freely. Examples include UC Davis and Iowa. Other schools will not rank you. And, Illinois simply places you in a group - likely, somewhat likely, not very likely (or something to that effect). It alllll depends on the school. :)

I'm OSS. Not sure what my chances are. I'm no. 30 on the waitlist and they said some years they go through the whole list and other years that it barely moves
 
I know Nyrriki called OSU herself--did you do the same Sirbuckie?
My application portal still says "In Review" and I've been holding off on calling because I don't want to irritate the admin office---but maybe they don't mind?
 
Yeah, I ended up calling the admissions office to find out my status. I needed to know ASAP though bc some decisions I had to make were dependent on whether or not I made the waitlist for Ohio. The admissions lady was really nice-- she said emails regarding our statuses will be sent out by the end of next week... so I would just wait for the email if I was you... unless you are really ansy
 
So is anyone a repeat alternate/waitlister? And when did you send your fall transcripts? Did you wait until your spring semester was over before sending anything? or did you wait until they sent an official acceptance?

I'm not a repeat, but I sent all transcripts upon being told I was an alternate. (That's the way Colorado State does it -- they decide everything before seeing official transcripts at all!)

Does anybody know if OSU has just one wait list or do the have an OOS and IS wait list? They didn't specify in the email....they just wrote "alternate list".
 
Second on the OSU waitlist!! I'm still trying to not get my hopes up... I don't want to get excited and then be crushed :( I'm IS, but idk if they have separate lists for IS and OOS??

Wow, second! Awesome! ...I know what you mean about getting your hopes up though. Y'know, with a number like that, I wonder if they wouldn't mind one bit if you phoned to ask.
 
Most schools (if not all) have an IS and OOS waitlist, because they have an exact number of spots for IS and for OOS. Usually the IS list moves slowly (I was 3rd alternate for Mizzou IS and didn't make it :( ) and the OOS list moves faster.
 
Hey all you OSU waitlisters. I called the office today and they said the positions they gave us are from a list that groups us all together. So Findlay2011 I'd say you have a really great chance. I think OSU has a bit of a range between how many seats they give to OOS and IS people. That is the only reason I can think of as to why they would have a combined waitlist. The woman also told me that last year they went all the way through the list and were still calling people in August. So, if it were last year you would be in. I'm sitting here at number 10 though....*sigh* Still waiting on a few schools though.
 
One bad thing about waiting.....I registered for the GRE in case I don't get an offer from the waitlist, but If I get in and don't have to take the GRE , then I'm out half of the registration fee! So if I get in I'm out of money, but If I don't then I'll be able to have the results in time for the next application cycle....I definitely wan't to apply to more than just one school next time(if I don't get in)!

I wasn't on the waitlist- I interviewed in mid December and got accepted on Dec 22. Just hoping that they can use my spot for one of you guys!!!
