I'm in! I was going to go to bed because I have a stomach virus... but right before I felt the urge to empty the contents of my stomach I saw the CONGRATULATIONS email. Then, I emptied my stomach. I don't think I will ever forget tonight. Strange, I have been waiting for this day for a very long time but I never imagined I would celebrate by sitting in bed sick as a dog. Congrats everyone else!

Went to bed at 11, because I didn't want to stay awake for disappointment. Woke up at 5am and could not resist taking a look at the emails... and accepted at 12:05 am!!! YES! Top choice! See ya'll in San Antonio!

It is definitely my top choice. I see there is a Facebook group already started.

Accepted...received my email at 12:02am, and I'm getting a $5,000 scholarship!!! hell to da ya!

Is it just me or is the FB group admin taking way too long to approve the requests?
 
I haven't been added either....I think a few of us should be admins, if possible...

Is anyone that got accepted Dec 1st an out of stater??
If so, care to share your app info like scores etc??
I'm an out of stater and I remember then telling me how crazy competitive it is.... so I'm just trying to figure out if I even have a shot.

Are there any 3rd/4th year students at UTHSCSA that I can ask some questions too??

I've talked to a couple friends who are 1st/2nd year, but I have some questions about chair time, patient pools, 4th year rotations etc..

OOS here, but I go to undergrad in Texas.

I am an OOS. It MAY have helped that I am also a double legacy. My stats are pretty decent as well.
 
Congrats, Flosstooth! Let's hear it for the non-Texans! I'm kind of intrigued by your predents profile...you're 20 and have a PhD in Biochemistry? That's some Doogie Howser shizzit right there.

Are you a medical student or a dental student? I have a friends that are currently in the dental progam at uthscsa and they have said that there is no dress code for us dental students.

In fact, I just texted one my friends who is a DS1 at SA. And I asked him is there a dress code or can we wear whatever we want to class? His response: "that is correct...no boobs showing though"

Secondly, SA doesn't do a white coat ceremony for dental students. So, we wouldn't have a white coat to wear to begin with, unless they required us to buy one. But, they do give us embroidered scrubs; no white coat though.

I have a quick question (I must have missed this during my interview):

Are there summer breaks in the curriculum? I'm OOS and would love to be able to visit my fam during any breaks!
 
you know, I think Dr. Segura said that there is some required summer school stuff...I'm pretty sure but not 100% certain.
 
I had my interview in early December and I think Dr. Segura said that the letters will be out on January 5th. Did anyone had their interview at the same time and if they could confirm the date? I want to make sure if I had the date right. Also I didnt get any email. I was wondering if anyone got their letter on the January 5th, 2012?
 
I was wondering the same thing! I interviewed in early december as well and was also told that we'd hear back from them in January 4th or 5th, but I've heard nothing! :'O
 
I dont know whats going on because I know one more person who interviewed at the same time as me and he hasnt heard either. Do you know how many acceptance letters were sent out on December 1st?
 
I think many are in the same boat, I would say call them and ask what happened, and then post it on SDN.
 
Seems like it. I think i might call them tomorrow.

Please let me know if you do hear anything anytime soon.
 
I did call the UTHSCSA admissions office and they said that the letters are not out yet because of the holidays so they will be meeting on monday and then sending out acceptance letters ones they are have made the decisions by the end of january. They did not give me a specific date when they will be out. 🙂
