i'm am soooo worried about this test...

mainly for the drug questions.. i just can't seem to remember MOST of them...

to those whose takin the exam alreadie, what percentage of the questions were solely based on the DRUGS?? and on the different laws??

i'm doing pretty okay on the math part and other general questions... but i just want to know what portion of the exam actually make up the drugs?

anyone have any secrets on stuyding for the drugs?

help 😕

i would memorize all the gnerics for general anti biotics and other widely used meds....also make sure you know all the sigs.

hey pharmchick, i wouldn't worry so much about the drug questions. i took the pharm tech exam in july and i hadn't had any pharmacy experience then but i still passed. most of the questions are math based (probability questions). the other ones are about what you do in an actual pharmacy. as long as you studied the basic stuff you should be fine. be sure you know your conversions also. i didn't know any brand-generic names. for the actions of the different drugs, i made a list of the suffixes and what they mean:

Group 1
1. ace ? antihypertensive
2. dipine ? antihypertensive
3. lol ? antihypertensive
4. pril ? antihypertensive
5. acin ? antibiotic
6. cillin, illin ? antibiotic
7. icin ? antibiotic
8. in ? antibiotic
9. mycin ? antibiotic

Group 2
1. oin ? topical
2. ol ? bronchodilator
3. one ? anti-inflammatory
4. statin ? antihyperlipidemia
5. vir ? antiviral

Group 3
1. amide ? diuretic
2. hydrochlorothiazide ? diuretic
3. azole ? antifungal
4. ole ? antifungal
5. ide ? antihyperglycemia

i'm taking the ptce tomorrow too and found this practice test. sign up. its free. 125 sample questions. i got 90 right. i dont know if thats good enough. hopefully, it is.

Sorry, I'm late replying. 😳 I hope everything went well for you guys! :luck:

I took the exam back in March and I passed. There were dosage problems (IV etc), generic names, things like that.
I still cannot agree that the test I reviewed on the PTCB website was an indication of how the test went. I found it to be a lot different from the actual test. Just me, I guess. 😉
