The NBDE scores are valid forever. For the purpose of dental licensing,
scores never expire and state boards do not care when the NBDE was taken.
For the IDP's, the schools think that a more recent score is an indication
that the student has not forgotten the basic science material. They
often specify that the NBDE score should not be more than 3 years old.
Dental schools also put restrictions on the age of the score because they
are overwhelmed with applications and are looking for ways to cut down
the number of applications.
