assuming you want it all to be considered for those programs that offer earlier interviews, probably late july/early august is best. It gives you enough time to get your score back by the time you submit ERAS on the first few days of September. For the rest of the programs, you could push it later to late august/mid-september but that seems to be cutting it close (plus you'll wonder whether you could have gotten better interviews if only your Step 2CK score was back)

my rec: late july/early august

Expect to wait 6-8 weeks to get the Step II score back. This might be reduced to 3 - 4 weeks by next year when the new software/format is no longer new. But to be safe, 6-8.

Apparently, the NBME now says that they will, in fact, be back to the 4 week turnaround.

LOL! That's what they said for the last two years in a row. I'm sure they'll change it again right smack dab in the middle of interview session.

i didn't do too well on step 1...about a 209...Does anyone know when I need to take step IIck by and still be considered for an interview?

No. My score sucks (worse than yours), and I'm applying to a competitive residency type. I took Step II 8/21 and have been very pissed off that the changes have caused this delay. Still, I have gotten early interviews already based upon the rest of my application. There is hope... 🙂
