Dont go there. School is very small and very expensive. Its located at the very bad part of a small city. They don't teach you well and you will not pass Naplex and State exam.

do you have concrete proof of your claims about the Naplex and state exam failure rates? proof should not be 'i heard from a friend of a friend of a friend of a cousin who lives near a guy that lives near someone that went out of state to the school' or any type of garbage related to that scenario.

or are you trying to scare other applicants because this is your school of choice? 😀

yessir

clearly someone who is labeled as "pre-pharm" has the credentials to talk about NAPLEX and the juris exam.

haha what a ******

I don't think MCPHS-W is in a city, its country.

As for MCPHS (boston), I think thats what you're talking about. I don't believe MCPHS is a bad school, those that make it to fourth year generally pass their NAPLEX. The pass rate is actually 100%, but the data that is collected I believe is first try. You can take your boards as many times as you want but remember the cost is 1k.

This is bias but I have heard from fellow peers (ACP) that students generally have higher GPAs @ mcphs but don't understand the material as well. ***Whole list of stories but that maybe due to rivalry.

***However the success of a canidate depends on how much you study,

I don't think MCPHS-W is in a city, its country. No, it's a city www.ci.worcester.ma.us. You meant "county"? I don't think MA has counties. It's too small.

You can take your boards as many times as you want but remember the cost is 1k. Agree, but NAPLEX is 91-day interval each and MPJE is 30-day.

This is bias but I have heard from fellow peers (ACP) that students generally have higher GPAs @ mcphs but don't understand the material as well. Disagree. Higher GPA means in-depth understanding. It's just that the hand-on practices require more improvement.

***Whole list of stories but that maybe due to rivalry. Agree. MA's only 2 pharmacy schools dislike each other.

***However the success of a canidate depends on how much you study. Agree. That's why the passing rate is high.

Wrong. It's always expensive b/c it's accelerated. The passing rate for both NAPLEX/MPJE is all time high for the whole MCPHS (3 campuses Boston, Worcester, and Manchester).

The poster is referring to the Worcester campus, not Boston. Worcester is the 3 year program and Boston is the 6 year program. I'm thinking since this poster is a prepharm, he is probably just trying to decrease his competition because he's applying there.

Higher GPA means in-depth understanding.

Hahah...oh man, I could go on and on about how this would not be the case.

I think higher GPA = better time management, better ability to take tests, and better ability to pick out material that's going to be tested.

I've scored A's in classes as an undergrad wherein I didn't understand anything except how to answer the questions on the test.

I pretty much understood in depth what was going on in my physics classes, except the little details of calculation/sig figs would trip me up. I can describe magnetic flux inside and out but actually crunching numbers...I'll leave that to the calculator.

But then again, everyone's different. I just disagree here.

Except I think we all agree the OP is an idiot :hardy:

I'm so sick of hearing crap like this about MCP-W...granted, the OP is probably trolling around with a thumb up his ***** but nonetheless, when I read some of these things I just laugh. Listen, I'd put my abilities up against kids from any pharmacy school. It's all about what you take away and how you study in pharmacy school. I think it's a frigin joke when people try to compare pharmacy schools like they know what they're talking about. Who in the hell as attended more than one professional part of a pharmacy program??? Very few people and I'll say this much...for any of you prospective students out there....if you believe everything you read on SDN then do me a favor...don't even apply to MCP. I don't wanna take the chance of having the same degree as someone that could possibly be so ignorant and naive.

Whiteknight,

Do me some favors:

1) Stop talking out of your ***.

2) Life lesson: Should you aspire to be a health care professional (regardless of the health profession), do not bash another professional's education. Pharmacy is a VERY small world.

3) Don't ever apply to MCP, we don't want you or anyone who follows you in your piss-poor attitude.

As a rebuttle to your more than ignorant statements:

Yes, Worcester is not the greatest of areas. However, I have yet to see a professional school in a decent area (students I have spoken to from Temple, Rutgers, etc all have the same complaint).

Costly, yes. MCP-W is private and tution is expensive. Nonetheless, calculated out over the 3 years of education roughly equates to the same amount per year as some state schools. I'll compare MCP-W to my home state (NJ) pharmacy school (praised for being one of the "best-bang for your buck" schools):

MCP-W: ~$36,700 x 3 years = $110,000
http://www.mcphs.edu/about_mcphs/of...dent_financial_services/tuition_and_fees.html

Rutgers (out of state): ~$25,000 x 4 years = $100,000
http://admissions.rutgers.edu/0401.asp

For all those who care, I can attest to MCP-W's credentials. MCP-W is not for everyone but does a fine job in educating its students.

Hey guys
current P-3 here. This school is tough, but doable, but as nightcrawler said its not for everyone. However, please check your facts before making false statements.

NAPLEX passing rates for 2008 grads for MCP- Worcester:
NAPLEX results - Test Window #2 (May - August 2008)
There were 121 test takers, and 119 passed!!!
School passing rate = 98.35
State passing rate = 97.76
National passing rate = 97.44

So what were you saying about our school again?
