here it is guys..congratz to all!! we've worked long and hard for this very day..now, time to relax and enjoy..

i'm now looking for a place to stay/rent...anybody know of any reasonable priced safe areas around the school? anybody looking for a roommate?

The the hard work did finally pay off.. I am so relieved.. I will probably be looking for a roommate as well. Just PM me and we'll see what happens!

I got an acceptance this morning, but I'm picking UTDB. I'm letting San Antonio know ASAP to let the next deserving applicant get their place.

Nobody's making the fb group? I'd do it but I'm not totally 100% sure I'm picking UTHSCSA over Baylor...I can still do it anyway if someone wants me to.

I posted something on last year's acceptance thread. You might see if you can dig that up. There is a new complex that is being built right now... not sure what the price is like, but it is not too far from the medical center... The Preserve at Fredericksburg at the corner of Huebner Rd and Fredericksburg Rd.
 
How do you guys already know? They said they would snail mail notifications on the 1st...

They sent an email in the morning and they called me later in the afternoon. They will also still be sending a letter through snail mail, in which you have to accept or reject their offer and then mail it back.
 
So I would really like to go to San Antonio, I was just wondering if any of you out of the goodness of your heart, would be willing to decline your acceptance so I can have a better chance of getting in😀. well, it was worth a shot.
 
Honestly, a lot of it was just a gut feeling, but also check out the thread I made in the dental section called UTHSCSA vs. Baylor.

YES! one more spot at Baylor! i'm praying i get one of these open spots in the next round of acceptances.🙂
 
2 more spots at Baylor now and 1 more at SA! I turned down both of my offers for Houston! I wish everyone the best of luck when the next round of acceptances go out!!! 👍

I was looking at predents and noticed that there is quite a few people from the University of Houston that were accepted on Dec. 1st. I counted 5 out of 19. Pretty impressed by that fact. I thought one of the larger schools like UT or A&M were going to have more people. But then again not everyone has a predents profile so that might still be the case, but on that note......GO COOGS.....too bad we lost the championship game today!🙁
 
Hey, question for you guys, I know Dr. Cappelli was the associate dean for student affairs, but who was taking over for him? I can't seem to find her business card.

So I finally got my acceptance letter today (took a while to get to my home address and then had to be forwarded to my apartment). Anyway, I know we have to send in the letter of intent, but I don't see anything about a deposit. Was my letter just missing something or do we not have to send one in. I thought all schools had a deposit you would have to pay...

Yeah, I was wondering about the deposit as well. If anyone finds out please let us know. I was kind of wondering if we were going to receive something else, like a packet, that included additional information.😕

correct...San Antonio Dental School has never required a deposit to hold a position..on the other hand, Houston requires a small deposit and Baylor a large one
 
I don't get what would stop everybody from just saying yes to SA. If you were planning on going to Baylor you can pay the deposit there and say you are planning on enrolling at SA also. Then if for some reason you don't do well in your classes and Baylor takes away your acceptance you still have SA to fall back on at no cost. Obviously it's not something you should do, but there's nothing stopping anyone from doing it...

what do you mean by not doing well in classes? Not doing well as in below a C? I thought that all we have to do now is make sure we pass our prereq classes with at least a C
 
Yeah that's what I meant. I guess it's not a great example, but I just meant that there's no reason not to check that you're not attending. Doesn't really matter though...

Baylor is not a large deposit in comparison to other schools, maybe in Texas, but not across the country. What is Baylor's? Is it still $200-250? I was accepted to Nova Southeastern in addition to the Texas schools, and Nova required a $1000 deposit by January-something and then another $1000-1500 deposit in April. And that is cheap compared to some schools that charge $2500-3000 deposits. I'd take the $200 hit any day if I didn't know where I wanted to go or if I was waiting on another acceptance.

Not yet, but I have it sealed and stamped and ready for delivery. Was planning on dropping it off tomorrow. I'm still waiting to hear from Houston though. I interviewed Nov. 30th so it will be a while before I hear back.

It would easier to stay in Houston since I live there, but I've heard so many great things about San Antonio. Mostly from the dentists I've worked with. I've talked to quite a few of them and most of them recommend going to San Antonio. I don't know. Guess I'll wait and see, but as of right now my decision is pretty easy since I only have a San Antonio acceptance.
 
I just called UTHSCSA today. She said the january acceptances will be either the first or second week of january and they will be a "hard-copy"...so a letter in the mail, i'm assuming.

you can get an estimate looking at predents by comparing number of acceptance over interviewed. Even though this only represent predents but gives you some idea. The better esmitate is only possible if you know someone in admission.
 
Had a friend accepted yesterday via email. Bummed b/c I didn't get one...

Probably. I doubt every spot is filled. I'd call the school if you want to be sure though.
