Just got back from the test, so good to be done.
PA: 20 (81.0)
QR: 22 (98.7)
RC: 21 (88.9)
Bio: 18 (72.1)
GC: 25 (98.9)
OC: 28 (99.5)
TS: 21 (96.2)
AA: 23 (99.7)
I'm pretty happy with the scores, more happy to be done. I started studying when I got out of school around June 12th. Right now I'm working 9-5 everyday in an internship so it's been hard to find time to study and even harder to stay motivated. Used my GCHEM/OCHEM class textbooks, Kaplan BB, and Schaums AP BIo to study for the test.
PA: Was basically exactly what I expected. The box counting is as easy as always. The only difference between this section and the Kaplan practice tests was that Hole Punching was a lot harder on the real tests. There were folds that I have never seen before and it looked like oragami stuff. Overall what I expected since I have been getting around a 20 on the several practice tests I have taken.
QR: Although I know 22 is a good score, I wasn't too happy with this score. I have always been really good at math (800 SAT) so I didn't study for this section at all. I had a lot of unit conversions, questions converting F to C, and a couple stats questions. You really gotta pace yourself here, I would consider myself really quick at math problems and I finished with 2 seconds left. Kaplans practice tests were pretty representative of this section, but might have been just a little easier than the real thing.
RC: I think I had to have some of the easiest passages ever. All were on stuff that is easy to understand and not too technical. Had plenty of time left in this section. No strategy in particular, just read the passage and tried to keep track of the location of the info and the general theme of the paper. Really happy with this score since I didn't take any RC pratice tests or anything.
Bio: So random. I haven't taken any biology in college (just AP Bio in high school) so I was so nervous going into this section. I heard from other people on this board that bio was random and I guess I just really underestimated that. If you have a somewhat decent backgound in bio I wouldn't spend much time studying this section, it's just so random that the time you have to put in to getting a great score in it is better spent on G chem or O chem. Schaums outline was a good reference for me since I needed to extra detail since bio was a weak subject for me, but I'd suggest just going through KBB for bio and some class notes.
G Chem/ Ochem: I am a chemical engineering major and G chem is something we use everyday so all I did was read through KBB a couple times for this section. I did the same for O chem but also skimmed through my class textbook for a little deeper understanding. KBB is really all you need for these two sections. My best sections by far.
Overall I'm real happy with my scores. I didn't buy any topscore/destroyer/Crack PAT or anything. I've heard they are really good though so I would suggest looking into them to get that added edge if you need it, they are expensive however.
