I remember back in the day when I took my MCAT there was a thread like this that helped the time pass faster. We know that we are all neurotic, but sometimes sharing those neurosis can make things just a little better!

T-minus 36 days...

I took this mess today, and I really wished that when they handed me that sheet of paper after the test it had my score on it. Lucky GRE takers...

234/99.

if you guys want percentiles use this: http://www.*******************/solutions/resources/usmle-score-calculator.html.
The second interactive chart shows you where your score falls. Its *slightly* miscalibrated as it says a 234 is a 98 and i got a 99 (similarly someone got a 232/99 and it says thats a 97) but I'd trust the percentiles there. Its a known source for calculating the percentiles so its the best we have to go with.

Congrats on the score! I am in 2014 class, its great to see 2013's kicking ass on step.

Congrats dude
I don't know why people spread those lies, I went up 50 points from my baseline

It is totally ridiculous why people would say that and I hope people dont believe that because it really limits what you believe your potential to be.

On a side note I remember that when I saw print score report It took 4 min to load the form! I had severe tachy!!!

yo DocEspana...can you repost that link? something got funky when it got pasted. and WBC, that's awesome!

Finally got my score about an hour and a half after they said I would. I didn't reach my goal, but it is sufficient to not knock me out of any specialties. I'm glad to shake the standardized test monkey off my back.

MCAT was a 27 for me with my performance estimate by our score guru being a 217....I exceeded my past history by a fairly significant amount.

To all of you,
I will be taking step 1 nxt summer and I know it's a little too early for me to start thinking ab step 1 ( atleast that's what most people think).. but i was just wondering if there's any one who started looking over step 1 material during the 2nd year with the class material..if yes, what books/resources did u use? any other tips/suggestions..are welcomed🙂

major lurker, but i just wanted share in the revelling. got a 251/99, extremely happy😀. almost unrealistic. future test takers out there: just work hard and have trust in first aid and Uworld. anyone can do well if you put the work in.

UWSA 1: 216
UWSA 2: 224
NBME 7: 231
Real deal: 236/99. Does anyone know if a 236 is a good enough score for a DO student to match into MD emergency medicine? (I know my name says orthodoc2be, but I'm considering EM too)

Yes, start early (6 months before). It's critical because most schools don't teach to the test. It definitely is key, I didn't have my best test performance (4-5 foolish errors) and I still walked out with a 263. Starting early allows more wiggle room for the pressure of the day. Just my two cents

After browsing through the posted scores on this thread, one could come to the conclusion that the average score on step1 is around 250 or so.

I have a score of 254/99 in my score report. I'm hoping that there is not some global error in scoring on the behalf of NBME, and that the average score is indeed 222 as claimed by NBME.

LOL seriously, I guess all the good test takers just post on SDN or there's a bias where the ppl with really good scores post there's but the avg test takers don't

For every person posting a 250 score there are 10 people lurking this forum who got 210-230...

265/99. I never in my wildest dreams would have predicted this score.

My best practice test was in the mid 250s. Guess I had a good day.

Thank you SDN for keeping me sane the last month.

250's, so happy. goal was 240.

score was up around 10:30 am. Didn't get an email until 11:30 am CST.

NBME 4 (05/09): 192 (67%)
UWSA 1 (05/22): 234 (69%)
DIT Finished 5/27
NBME 5 (05/30): 242 (86.5%)
NBME 6 (06/02): 236 (84.5%)
NBME 12 (06/6): 245 (88%)
Prometric Practice Test (6/8): 240 (86%)
NBME 7 (06/09): 251 (91.5%)
NBME 11 (6/10): 251 (92.5%)
UWSA 2 (6/11): 261 (81.5%)
Step 1 (6/15): 250's

(all NBMEs were taken off-line, so the esimated scores are probably a little off.)

mainly used DIT, USMLEWorld and FA.

good luck to everyone taking it in the future. hope this helps.

Shocked. Had been aiming for 235.
Did DIT, finished on 6/8, test day was 6/17.
NBME 6- 217 (early may)
NBME 7-235 (5/30)
NBME 12- 228 (6/10)
NBME 11- 238 (6/13)
Did all of UWorld, most of Kaplan, went through FA 3 times. Watched kaplan for the subjects I was weakest in.

Good luck to everyone!

also shocked: 261!!!😱

NBME 7 (3 days out): 257
NBME 11 (2 weeks out) 249
NBME 12 (4 weeks out) 242
NBME 6 (3 months out) 224

Recommendations: do well 2nd year and dont slack off. Goljan, First Aid, UWorld and Rapid Review Biochem.

studied 5.5 wks. mostly FA (2 times through) and UWorld. Saw LOADS of questions... wherever I could find questions, I did them. Probably saw a total of 3500-4000 Q's before the actual exam, and that was extremely helpful.

NBME 7 - 185 (6 weeks from test - before starting to study - mistake, i know, since it's a good predictor, wasted it early - oh well)
NBME 11 -221 (4 weeks from test day)
UWSA 2 - 242 (3 weeks from test day)
"Free 150" - 80% 2.5 weeks from test day)
NBME 12 - 226 (2 weeks from test day) this was discouraging but moved along
UWSA 1 - 247 (1 week from test day) (also did three random timed UW blocks after that SA to mimic the real thing... LONG day but I planned by breaks well because of that experience - I took a break after every section.)
final UW percentage on random timed blocks - 70%

Was "shooting for" a 240+ and after the test felt pretty good about that.

Ended up scoring a 246!

😀

Party time!

Thanks 😳 I guess that seeing all the 250+ scores on here really skewed my perspective.
Don't worry about it dude there's enough out here for all of us to eat well.
Sure I may have posted the 2nd lowest score in here [225] but i was seriously terrified I may not have even passed so I'm happy with my score no matter how many 255+ scores people post.
Just be happy knowing that your hard work paid off

242/99. Goal was 240 so I'm pretty damn happy. NBMEs were right on target.

Also really glad I took USMLE because my comlex conversion was a 228, even though I did really well on comlex.

Finally, first two years of med school are officially over.

239/99
-average grades yr I and II
-honored maybe 2-3 classes
-definitely NOT AOA
-lower tier med school
-uworld avg 60%

so heres how it went. just wanted to pass with an above avg. score when i started studying. got kaplan q bank in december and tried to do Qs over the year. got about 90 % done then dropped it for uworld 5 weeks before the test.

2 words: FIRST AID FIRST AID FIRST AID FIRST AID. everyone leads you to believe you need a million books to do well on this thing but thats not the case. i read first aid a bit throughout the year, but not that hard. got through it 3 times during the course of 5 weeks of studying, and did the uworld q bank.

DIT lecs just to keep me focused, but i think i really learned from first aid and uworld.

goljian a bit but didnt finish listening to his lecs. ran out of time. got maybe half way through.

Bottom line, READ FIRST AID AND DO Qs. this test can be done with those two things, period.

244/99! Pumped! Here are some deets:

Was doing pelvic exams all day so I couldn't check more score. Got home today: 244/99!

My tips: Try to memorize FA (you won't be able to). Do UWorld. Have RR Path on hand to clarify FA and listen to Goljan while you work out (ie, during times when you can't study FA). Do NOT try to study RR Path or other resources besides FA. This will spread your time too thin and you won't be able to drive home the important points. The day you take your test, you STILL won't know everything in FA, so there is no need for additional study material. The most accurate NBME is the one you take closest to your exam.

SO HAPPY!!

Some stats:
First MCAT: 26 (retook because I wanted US-MD)
2nd MCAT: 35
5 weeks total studying time.
3.7 weeks out: NBME 6 - 226
2 weeks out: NBME 11 - 245
6 days out: NBME 12 - 242

240/99!!!!

Is this enough to get an ortho spot in California?

In any case, congrats to all who got their scores back today. It seems like many deserving students were rewarded for their hard work!
