Heck, yes! I think everyone +/- one point should be allowed to chill in this group. 😀

Who else is verified? Anyone have any secondaries yet? 😕

I am verified and I received my first secondary today! From Ohio State. It shocked me to see it in my email.

Got ya beat, Sunshine. There's a big fat L next to my 29. MCAT writteing graders suspposed I wasn't a good at writor{

Anyway, with my 29 I got into the only DO school I applied to and I'm on two MD waitlists (high in the upper third on one of them). For the love of Chuck Norris, apply early with your 29!! The worst thing I did was apply late.

Rock on 29ers!

Hey--we have the exact same breakdown--both getting an 11 in BS (Strong work!) but switched in PS/VR. 🙂

Guess I have to work harder on my essays.

You have to work on your essays??? I got an O, I need to work on my essays. You were up near the 97th percentile with that R. Nice work!

Yeah... I got an M by some odd fate with a 29. I'm retaking regardless of the M. I didn't exactly have the most time to study during the semester and then the lovely MCAT is in between exams.

So I'd like to bring it up to about 32-35, which is entirely in reach for me if I actually study a bit.

Another 29M here, which isn't going to compensate for my 3.3 GPA 🙁. At least I'm already verified on AMCAS...

sooo what are the best schools to apply to with our 29 MCAT?

Kinda depends on your GPA, my friend. Consult the MSAR. Also depends on where you have in-state residency. 👍

Yeah... I'm only retaking because my girlfriend is in pre-pharmacy, and I'd like the chance to be in the same area as her. So the more schools I get accepted to the better our chances.

(In addition, there's always the lack of studying last time which was stupid. And of course the M, but that's not a big deal)

Oooh same breakdown as me. We'll be fine, right? Glad to see all you M's out there; it stinks for us, but it makes me feel a little better 🙂

OMG, i want a kitten just so i can put a lime on their head! That is hilarious!

Hey guys, another 29 here! I got an 11VR, 9BS, and 9PS with a Q. I do not have a stellar GPA, but there is hope. I applied last cycle late, was complete in October, and am currently on a waitlist at an allopathic school. As of right now, all my primary apps are in for this cycle, and am working on secondaries! Good luck everyone! GO 29's!!! 😀

I like my avatar. 🙂

Makes me want to get a bunch of cats with lemons and then a bunch of cats with limes on their head and have them play football with catnip. 👍

Hey all,
Not sure if you're concerned, but when I got my 29 before applying I was super anxious at my chances. I'm posting to (hopefully) keep your morale up, b/c I ended up getting into several M.D. schools. When I brought up my concern of my MCAT score at an ivy interview, the dr. laughed. "we know you're qualified to do well here" he said "What we're impressed with are your phenomenal LOR's and unique EC's"... And then they accepted me

So please don't underestimate your potential. I think they want people with interesting experiences who'll make good clinicians, not necessarily good test takers

That is very encouraging!! Thanks for sharing 🙂 Where did you end up deciding to go?

Hey whatev, could you elaborate on your EC's? Very interested to know what interests an ivy....

Bump for the 29-ers! The first "# MCAT" thread; the original and the best.
Woot!

Nutshell: I did research/training in "developing nations", lead an undergraduate interest group and travelled around the u.s. for conferences, and took a short time off to be a teacher

I feel really blessed for the acceptances I was offered and feel that some of it may have been due to the fact that in college, I put my all into commitments that I was passionate about--as opposed to doing the typical pre-med cookie cutter stuff like: "volunteer at the hospital" or "join the pre med society"... do you know what I mean? Maybe some of my experiences were refreshing to the interviewers

Thanks for the vote of confidence!!! I hope med schools look at more then just numbers!! It takes more then an awesome GPA and a sweet MCAT to be a good doctor! What kind of ECs did you do? Everything I did I really enjoyed (it made a huge impact on my life) and I hope the committee recognizes that!
Good luck everybody :luck:

Hi everyone. Thanks for this thread... I have been looking for something like this. Maybe some of you have read my previous threads.... basicly I am a CND from Ontario, so the 29 was upsetting... especially since I was scoring above 30 on practice tests...

The good thing is that there are some great stories in this thread ( I have not had the chance to read all of them yet, but they give hope).

I have not started on my PS but I am hoping to get this done soon and apply early and hopefully get into some low tier / mid tier school or at least an interview..... too bad I am not an American Cit... it seems easier for some of you guys especially if you have an easier-to-get-in state school ... 🙂

Anyways if there are some words of encouregment- especially from Canadians please post..!

I guess I can always retake in January 2007... try the new CBT...!! Good luck to everyone...

You do have unique EC's, I bet that was a big reason for your success.
Where are you ending up going?
Thanks for the encouragement!

29N here, i was a little excited about my score because i got a 28 on the only full practice test i took and i am a texas resident so hopefully that will help me get into a MD school. any suggestions on where i should apply out of state? right now i'm thinking wakeforest, tufts and boston plus all the texas schools.

well, sending my writing sample rescore in tomorrow. yikes! hopefully the rescore is same or better than my awful M!

anyone want to read my PS tomorrow? i'll read yours!

i'm clicking submit by friday....still deciding on ED!
MDapps=5440

I got a 29 too.VR:7,PS:11,BS:11, WS:N. Hey Im a physics major not an english major! Im wondering if I should retake. 3.75GPA, 3.8SGPA.

Hey everyone, I took the april MCAT and got a 28...there is hope!!! I have already had 5 interviews and will be going on my 6th at the beginning of November. I am not writing this to brag, just to let everyone know that there is hope. Oh and all of my interviews have been at MD schools in the US.

Rosalind, VCU, PENN STATE, OHSU, UVM, and USUHS

Just set your sights realistically. I applied to schools I had a chance at and didn't waist time fretting over Harvard, Yale, and Stanford. Just know your limits. Good luck, and keep your heads up. They look at the whole package. Don't get discouraged. It is a long hard process.

Best of luck!!!

Count me in the group of 29. Great to see the support. Good luck to everyone🙂

For sure. Where's Robizzle? He has a ton of interviews and is representing hard for the 29'ers. Go Rob, Go!

29er right here. 5 interviews. 1 Acceptance!!! VCU!!

Wohooo go 29ers🙂

I was worried last April but i'm doing just fine this cycle.

7 interviews (Penn State, Jefferson, NYU, UMD, GW, NYMC, Drexel)

1 acceptance (Penn State)

and 1 rejection (Pitt)

29 is nothing to sweat!! Good luck guys:luck: :luck:

29er right here. I plan on getting in. my mdapps is below-I am also stoked on osteopathic medicine so either way I will be happy to attend. 29 is sweet-I personally dont care about mcat scores as long as i get in-I think personality and experience are what count....

plus 29in wheels in mtn biking is where the sport is going

I like your posts and your photos of the mountains. I am a snowboarder from Oregon and my brother is a snow freak at Colorado College in the Springs. I plan to spend a few weeks with him this winter chasing powder in the Rockies.

29O here. I am happy with my score, because I only studied for 3 1/2 weeks. Psychologically, I would have been much happier with a 30, but oh well.

BS 10, PS 10, VR 9

I am applying to a boatload of DO programs, and my in-state schools (NY). I will be putting AMCAS in tomorrow, so I am behind the curve. Low 3.X something GPA (according to AMCAS, AACOMAS GPA is much better). I do have a great upward trend (120+ credit hours of 3.9ish).

I doubt I will get in to an allo school, but I figured I will try anyway. Good luck to everyone out there. Many people on this board make it like a 29 is a bad score, but try telling that to the 7X% that didn't score that well.

My last four practice tests were from 29-32 so I was in my range. When I left the MCAT I thought I BOMBED the verbal (it was a beast), but I was disappointed with my BS score, since I was scoring 11-12 on BS section on my last four practice tests

ok, i'm officially requesting that this be the 28-29 networking group 😛

I scored a 28 (10s in PS, BS, 8 in VR), and I think that fits in well with you guys...not the magical 30 but OK enough to go ahead and apply. If anyone thinks otherwise, feel free to boot me out...but I've been around on this forum for a while now soaking up lots of advice, so hopefully I have lots to share (and still lots to learn!).

Woooo..!!!! Grumman, S&M, and I are all pretty much triplet Randomites!!! 😀

29 here folks 🙂 My distribution is absolutely horrendous, but I'm trying to make it work! Wish me luck. :luck:

Dude, keep it up with the pics, they are always awesome. I love winter pics!! The one you posted of the dogs a while back is just classic!

That camera seems pretty badass, those pics are crystal clear.

dgriss, I was actually going through your MDapps before seeing those pics. You've done some really fun stuff before applying. 👍 Makes me think...😀 I have a couple kayaks in the garage so some time off would be nice. 🙂

Hey ironman,
Thanks!

Those are some really nice photos, is it a Digital or are you using 35mm with a film scanner? I'm looking for a camera and as something of dark room junkie I'm debating whether I should join the digital age.
