Hi-
I'm applying to dental school next June but wanted to take my DAT this summer to get it over with. I recently realized that they ask you for the schools you want your scores to be sent to on the DAT application. I haven't even decided anything. Can you take the DAT and not put ANY schools on your application? Is that possible?

Just select every school on the list. There is no additional fee, and they'll only be sent to the schools you designate on your AADSAS application. If you choose additional schools after submitting your DAT application, it'll cost you extra $.

So the actual AADSAS asks for the schools again? How does that work?
Thanks!

You pay a base fee for the first school you apply to and then an additional fee for each additional school. Currently, it is $244 for the first and $90 for each additional not including each school's secondary application fee. Even though you designate all the schools during DAT registration, it is unlikely that you would spend thousands of dollars actually applying to each and every school (unless you're aznboi who applied to 51 or something).

lol wat, aznboi applied to 51?!

So long as you just select ONE school, they will all get your scores when you apply. They show up on your AADSAS application to every school.

You might as well select all of them, and AADSAS will send them what they call an "official" score report. However, your scores are on your application (you can view a PDF of it when you apply) that goes out to all schools--even the ones you don't select. For example, I took my test last year and didn't know I'd be applying to UConn or UoP. They still got my scores, though, because I had selected other AADSAS schools when I signed up.

No worries! 🙂

However, if you don't select them all, DO NOT PAY TO HAVE MORE SCHOOLS SENT A REPORT WHEN YOU APPLY NEXT YEAR. It is completely unnecessary and some people who are uninformed waste hundreds of money on doing so.
