Started by 16jpatel
Could anyone give me an interview guide, because mine is one Oct. 29. Or a link to a really amazing one?
The internet.

What do you mean like step by step timetable of what happens in the general interview or like HOW TO DO WELL IN AN INTERVIEW
Why is everyone so mean on this pre-dental forum? I get so scared when I'm about to look at a comment. And yes I mean like good tips
The world is a harsh place. Also SDNers probably all have a little bit of cut throat gunner/sarcastic elitist in us, either remnants of the past or current status, might be a factor.

says um a lot but supposedly has a high med/dent acceptance rate in the major he councils
There's also a part 2 on the intertnets

Healthcare Interview Questions
Honestly, I have been a bit mean to you. It's partially because you haven't shown much effort in actually searching for information. I apologize for my attitude, but I'd appreciate it if you even bothered to google or use the excellent forum search feature at some point. Also, I can see you're nervous. I can tell you think your PAT or QR or whatever score will literally implode your application...but if you spent even a moment looking for examples, reading school websites, checking ADEA published statistics, etc., you would see that such thoughts are irrational.
probably b/c many of us are applying and we don't want to be "too helpful" so we jeopardize our own chances.
BTW, you can always buy books from amazon, look interview feedbacks on SDN, etc.
In the end, it all about how well you can present yourself.

Right? If no one would apply this coming June I would really appreciate it. Please just apply late this cycle or postpone until 2015 thanks.
Also I'm making a med school pros list to sway all on the fence people towards medical school.

Thanks I tottaly agree with you
I'd like to see that list!
maybe after my DAT  also so far it's kinda shaping up like this
1. medicine is so cool
2. doctor sounds cooler than dentist
3. umm more variety
I dunno lol I don't wanna go to med school I don't have any pros for it that have swayed me but I'll do more research those fence ppl must have reasons right?
I have a dental cons list
1. spit, all the time on everything
2. wow debt
3. the smells of dentistry are unpleasant (infected teeth, hot tooth dust, occasional vomit or just bad breath)
4. a lot of people will tell you they hate your profession/coming to see you
5. no one wants to pay for the cool care options
6. people with small mouths, narrow arches, shallow palettes, strong gag reflexes, or huge tongues slowly become the enemy (actually maybe more of an assistant problem)
7. a surprising amount of people have horrible dental anxiety. They don't just hate you they are terrified of you.

you get made fun of in the "Hangover" movie,
you are not considered a real "doctor" to most people😡
You don't like the smell of rotting teeth? WUT?
Unfortunately no 🙁 but I like the visuals of really mushy teeth getting whipped up like rancid cream cheese by a slow speed hand piece. 🙂
Any rules on wearing cologne/perfume to an interview?
Any rules on wearing cologne/perfume to an interview?
Don't or minimize it. Use only enough to barely smell it.

Any rules on wearing cologne/perfume to an interview?
I wouldn't. I don't wear perfume all that much bc some people are really sensitive to scents or they're allergic. Imo anyone near a dental clinic should keep scented products to a minimum/zero or something like this http://www.safetynewsalert.com/employee-wins-100k-over-allergy-to-co-workers-perfume/ could happen except it's your patient winning 100k.
This is not me preaching to never wear perfume btw in case some person decides to see it that way. Disclaimer for the internetz
Interviews aren't in dental offices but I think sometimes there's clinic tours? Correct me if I'm wrong. I would want the interviewer to at least know I don't actively try to trigger allergic reactions. Also depending on the scent you choose you're sending different messages. Being clean and scent free is a pretty safe choice that leads to 0 negative assumptions I would think.
