Thought it would be funny to ask if any of you other DO students use Osteopathy to flirt a bit. A little myofaschial here, some adjusting there. :) I think it's part of the whole "DO difference."

Are you talking about with classmates? If so, no, I don't fish off the company dock. Beyond that, it would probably be sexaul harassment.

Oh you mean the one involving the coccyx repair?

DrMom....you may be right....

Sleep: I can definitely see the advantage to posessing the artistic gift of manipulation and its use to demonstrate that you indeed have caring hands that know just where the pain is....:D

ive done a little High velocity in the pelvis area myself..

speaking of OMM in the sexual field . . .

have you guys gotten the lecture yet by the cranial professor (don't want to name names if i don't have to) in which he states that clitoral stimulation can be used during labor? ir i remember correctly, he tested us on it. i think it had something to do with prolonged labor or something.

imagine the looks on your patient's (or her husband's) face when you bring that treatment option up, lol.

Yes, we have had more than one person mention that...I asked one of my classmates if I could try it on her, but she refused. I dont know why, she isnt even pregnant.

Two words: Pubic shotgun :D

i'll see if i can dig up one of his manuals that addresses it. i swear i'm not making it up, lol.

Actually, maybe the idea makes some sense. When a woman orgasms doesn't the uterus undergo lots of fast contractions? Is this true about orgasm? I don't know? But...if it is, maybe that would be part of the rational?
Well, I know they say you are supposed to orgasm like you sneeze ( I sneeze in two's), and that definately ain't true. So, maybe this one isn't iether.

Homonculus would try anything, wouldnt he? Of course, with a mug like his, cant blame him...

In all seriousness I think I remember hearing about that, too (of course, we're in the same class so that doesnt mean it is widely taught)

Nipple stimulation can cause contractions, too.

I wasn't admitting to anything. I wouldn't be aware of what my uterus is doing anyway. I had just read about it.

and what about that ejaculatory technique..........
or the sternotesticular ligamentous tension........
or that manual pubic disengagement

j/k

What are you talking about, expand please.

yikes- should I be scared to wear just my sports bra in OMM.....

Shoot, who needs Viagra when you've got OMM!

*performing ischial Tuberosity Spread* OOPS fell forward and lost my balance, sorry hot female partner who needed some "sacral" adjustments ;)

Nah seriously though, no one gives sensual messages like an osteopath, or so I've been told ;)

Yes, it happens. Obviousely a lot more that is acknowledged. The OMM tutor is more than willing to do one on one with you. But be aware that if your married, when you hubby finds out, and he will sooner or later. He?s going to have a little trouble being understanding about it.

Hey, fishing off the company dock is great. Highly encouraged.

Surely most of you have a classmate or two that you favor, someone you especially like to see walk in the room or someone you like to encounter while on the wards -- and who you'd like to know a little, um, better. If given the chance on a weekend after a flight of tough exams or something, you must admit it would be tough to resist the opportunity.

We're only human, and if you put a group of people under the stress that IS medical school for so long, it's only natural that people get together.

More on-topic -- as far as using the precepts of osteopathy to further my cause, so to speak, I have noticed that in my class the dudes who have the reputation for being highly proficient at OMM always have kind of intrigued the eligible females of the class. And as an M4, when nurses (and techs, etc) find out that I'm a DO student, they're always asking me to work on them or screen them out or whatever. Sometimes it seems more like flirting than really wanting help with an actual somatic dysfunction.

Onward and upward.

Its all about the oxytocin baby....isn't oxytocin the chief mediator in female orgasms....which would also lend credence to the nipple stimulation thing.

BP,

So have you ever hooked up with any of these females you gave OMM to? just curious.....

You mean PATIENTS?? HELL no. But you probably mean nurses or other staff that I've given curbside OMM to during the course of a slow workday or something. Again, no. I was concentrating more on finding the dysfunction if there was one. Once I start treating someone or once I'm doing an h/p, the concept of attraction or thinking anything carnal about that person is absolutely out the window (for the time being), which is probably how it is for any of us. The only thing I'll cop to is hooking up with class- or schoolmates as I've mentioned above. But staying on-topic, I have heard some of the girls talk in my class and in the classes surrounding mine -- and the guys with exceptional OMM skills almost always have the reputation of being "good with their hands."

BP,

lol, no i didn't mean patients, that would be bad.

Ex-girlfriend who is a MSIV OMM guru taught me a bunch of techniques simply for the purpose of sensual OMM  . Ah the sacrifices I have made in the name of getting ahead for this coming year. But hey if what bigpimpin said about guys with the good hands reputation is true then
