Hey All, I was wondering what state people were from that are on SDN. This way if you had a specific question about a state school you could message people from your home-state. I feel like there is a lot more Cali residents than anything... let's take a poll!

Geez, there are WAY too many CA people on SDN!!!
 
Just look at demographics...the states with the most populated cities will have the most applicants--CA, NY, TX.

Besides, isn't there a whole bunch of 'red' states in the US that probably don't even have computers yet? :meanie:

I dont get it , what does high CA population has to do with grade score inflation? do u mean to say that CA schools are difficult or easy as compared to other states?

Don't know what they were saying, but Utah has the highest composite MCAT of any state.

Well, in defense of californians, we would have had a higher composite MCAT if I had decided not to take it!

Means that b/c it's so hard to get into CA schools, and CA residents have to apply to a ton of schools, their scores/grades usually need to be (and are) higher. At least on SDN that's the case. Haha, UCLAstudent, that's funny. 😛
 
Holy **** there are a lot of CA people here. Ugh. I hate this state! I already knew it was competitive, but 20% of SDN is from CA?! Wow.

max of 20? there are 50 states.. and one option for foreign and one for Wash DC.
 
It would be nice to do this pole again during the peak of the application season. Alot of people have been accepted and have since stopped looking at this god forsakenly addictive board. oh, and TEXAS!!!!

Any ideas? How come you can't make more than 20 options on a poll?

Is there a special setting or did the number of poll options change over time?

well, I'm actually FROM SC, but I'm a PA resident, so I chose PA

but I'll always be from Charleston, SC, the best city in the country 🙂

That's right!!!!!!!!!!! I am in Philadelphia for the year though (possibly even longer....I kinda like it here....and it is less expensive).
 
On a more serious note,

Is there any advantage when applying to private schools to being from a less populated state? e.g. I am from Iowa--will this benefit me come time to apply to private medical school?

Oh yes and like half the stupid medical applicants in the country, I too am from the Golden State. 🙄

I have been trying to make a similar poll in the pre-dental students forum for a long time, but for some time you couldn't make a poll with more than 20 options..

I was going through some of my old threads and checked again today and now we can make polls with quite a few options. (in this case, 52) 😀
