Hi Everyone,

Can you tell me what the criteria is for being selected for as a student who can participate in CCP's accelerated program? I've applied to both MWU and UIC. I'm leaning towards going to MWU b/c of the possibility of completing my PharmD in 3 years instead of 4.

What is the minimum GPA you have to obtain to get accepted?

How does the program change for students in the accelerated program?

Thanks!

Though this should probably be in the pre-pharmacy forum, I'll go ahead and answer it now. The accelerated program at MWU - CCP is for the top 50 students in the class after the first year of pharmacy school. What we were told at the MCV was that if not all of the 50 top students wanted to be in the accelerated program, then others would be selected until the 50 positions were filled. It's all based on who has the highest GPA.

The program isn't 3 years; ít's roughly 3 years, 3 months. You would complete your first year as normal and have the first summer off. But, you'd forgo your summer between PS-2/PS-3 in order to take classes. Instead of graduating March of your PS-4 year, you'd graduate in September of your PS-4 years - roughly 6 months early. Hope this helps.

As a student who was accepted into CCPs accelerated program (but changed her mind) I was prepared to answer for you but FutureRxGal took the words right out of my mouth!

Why did you change your mind?

I decided it wasn't worth giving up 2 of my summers just to graduate 6 months early 😎

Do they still have this program? Anyone out there participated in it? How was it?
