Hey guys i thought i'd start a thread for NC residents and non residents applying to UNC. Also if you can all post your stats if you don't mind . Thanks.

What is everyone's opinion of the DAT score needed for an Out of State applicant to get into UNC?

hey im an instater, got an interview oct 1st.
Stats are aroudn 3.6 overall 3.5 BCP (if you round up a lil bit)or Science forget which, DAT was 23/21/18 (AA/TS/PAT) as a second try, first was 20/20/17 (not sure if they avg or look at best one or whatnot). My app was sent in late June i believe. Cowsgomoo, in terms of out of staters im not sure if theres a "cutoff" but id imagine a 24/24/22 w/ a 4.0 would make the cut for at least an interview (unless they are worried you are a cyborg). Due to AADSAS excellent quality of service, I called schools to make sure they had everything, when I did this, UNC said yeah we have everything, and oh yeah you should be getting something in the mail for an interview. (I think they usually call you and then send one snail mail, but since they had me on the phone they booked it then) so give em an innocent little call and maybe theyll have some good news. oh yeah, cowsgo, they have a secondary you can do online, you should definitely do that if you havent yet, maybe thats it. They probably have a link somewhere on aadsad or just go to www.dent.unc.edu i believe. goodluck

From my understanding, the supplimental online application must be completed before they'll review your application. This is off the AADSAS webpage for supplemental school materials:
Send these materials to the dental school at the same time you send AADSAS materials:
After receiving AADSAS number, submit supplemental application on line at www.dent.unc.edu/academic/programs/dds/apps/. The supplemental application deadline date is December 1. The supplemental processing fee is $70.00 and must be sent with the printed and signed last page of the supplemental application. No supplemental application will be processed until the fee and the signed page are received. No application is complete without a supplemental application.

I have already done that and also paid the app fee. I dont know whats going on. I better call them.

i got one for oct. 1st also i am out of state, I called and found out, they said they haven't mailed the letters yet.

Generally, they will call each interviewee before they send out letters. Don't sweat it if you're not in the 1st group. There will be 3 more sessions (of about 60 students each).

oh man.. i called last week and they said they were "processing my application"

i'm instater, w/ 3.15 science 3.3 overall GPA and my dat scores are 20/20/21
i haven't got any calls from them yet.

I'm out-of-state and got the Nov 5 interview ... I don't know if I'm wasting my time on this one or not, I have a feeling they'd like a little higher sci g.p.a. to sneak me in across the VA/NC border, we'll see.

when did you find out that you were invited to the interview?

they mentioned at the oct 1 interview that usually by the january interview you have almost all instaters there so i guess no nneed to worry for instaters, i can feel yalls anxiety though no one else has given me the invite

i'm an instater attending unc for my undergrad degree.
i'm afraid that my gpa isn't high enough for an interview.

i have 3.13sci/3.3overall w/ 20/20/21 AA/TS/PAT
do you guys thnk i have a chance of interview invitation?
i'm about to have an anxiety attack from a thought that i won't be getting an invitation.. this sucks.. big time..

As a member of the UNC adcom, I can say the average non-resident DAT score is about a 23-24 AA (because only about 15% of the acceptances for the class are non-residents). Many of the non-residents have 25's or 26's or 28's or 30's... Gotta do pretty well to be considered. 🙂

I wouldn't worry so much...if you have an interview, they're serious about you. There may be something else in your app that they saw and liked.

The first interview date was about 70% non-residents...the later dates (especially January) are mostly all in-staters. Just sit tight. 🙂
