In my humble opinion as a med I student at a good canadian u, I think you have to consider that the MD/PhD program is quite competitive with few spots. In the world of research you are young (I am the same age but I am in a MD only program) while researchs in my experience, tends to favour older students with a fair bulk of research behind them. Standford research is obviously at a very high level. Don't be dismayed. Unless you had a Nature or equiv IPF (or higher) publication I wouldn't be too upset. With your stats you will achieve your dream, and I think this experience may help push you to become a creater physician/researcher than you probably would have before. Keep the faith. Its a matter of when rather than if for you.

Medicine is completely unlike undergrad, and probably a lot different than what you imagine it to be now. I never thought I'd say this, but I wish in a sense, that I hadn't have rushed through undergrad. When given lemons, make lemonade.

When I interviewed at Chicago they said they would phone today, even though it's a Saturday. But the people accepted both got emails after midnight. So I have no idea what's going on.
