Just for jbing, here is a thread for those of us waiting for VCU's decision date to vent, frustrate, worry, and obsess.

I'm still obsessing, still worrying, and still frustrated. Any and all topics related to these three things (and I mean very loosely related) are welcome.

You 'da bomb.

Uhhh....I liked this post better when it was called "2006 VCU Central"

You don't think I was too hard on him, do you?

Or do you think the subtlety is lost on him?
He wouldn't recognize your sbtlety since he never posts on the VCU thread. I did a search of all his posts (I have a lot of free time today) and there were two. So, how are the kids handling the "big move" situation?

Good luck Shy.

And since SDN is filled with the greatness that is Chuck Norris today:

Can Shy's cookies defeat Chuck Norris?

Yah, jbing also had a whole recent string of pretty darn nasty posts peppered with those lovely small words that broadcast how very few neurons are firing in his brain.

My kids? They're getting excited. They're off on a ski trip with daddy this week so I have the house all to myself until they all come home tonight. We all just wish we knew where we were going. Your kiddo and honey?

Rayhan, I dunno if they can defeat Chuck Norris, but I bet they slow him down while he's eating enough for us to get in maybe.. one punch?

On the martial arts subject, my daughter is going for her black belt in June. She has to do a 'show' - and she's choosing to learn steel fans. Yup.. those fans that ladies use to make a breeze down South? My daughter has one made of steel to fight with. Fortunately it's a practice fan, otherwise it would have razor blades on the tips of each spine of the fan. Yikes.

Your daughter seems like a formidable opponent.

I will defeat her steel fans with an empty paper towel roll, a can of bread crumbs, and a match.

Chuck, you are officially invited to dinner. Meatloaf with au gratin potatoes and dilled baby carrots with a lovely California merlot to kill the pain of waiting for VCU's waitlist message.

Thanks for the invite. Unfortunately, Chuck Norris eats nothing but steak. Most times he forgets to kill the cow.

Mr. Norris....will you adopt me?

Hey gdbaby-
Maybe you should ask Chuck Norris how to get your toddler to stay in his crib?

This is the easiest question ever posed.
A simple roundhouse kick to the temple will paralyze the infant so that it won't move at all, let alone out of his crib.

Yea, great idea Rem. We'll have to keep this on page 1 from now on. Lets see if VCU central can survive with out us. (oh I'll be back :meanie: )
I just love the post police. let's just pray we won't have to be classmates with these miserable souls. Seriously people, lighten up. Get laid and get a job.
Feel better now. 😛

14 for 16 yesterday in 1 of my brackets! Of course this means my final 4 picks for that bracket will be losing shortly...

13 for 16 yesterday (who had Montana!!). All my favs are today. My two alma maters (Iowa and Southern Illinois) play today and I actually have them matched up in the Round of 32.

I thought to myself last night "WWCND" What would Chuck Norris do? We changed some things up a bit: read him books in bed (vs. on the couch), did NOT lie on the floor next to his bed, but instead told him that I would sit outside the door (that way I can read the NYT while I wait). I also appealled to his father's genetic contribution and told him that if didn't sleep in his crib, he would not be allowed to have any pudding this week.

Result: It took him a while to fall asleep, but he DID sleep through the night and woke up happy at 6 am. Not too bad! Thanks Shy AND Chuck!

EXCELLENT, gd! Congrats! Keep it up and it get much *much* easier - and you'll reap rewards for years to come. My kids went to bed at 7pm when they were younger and slept until 6 am every night. Now the 7yo goes to bed at 8pm and the 10yo goes to bed at 8:30pm. No arguing, they wake up by themselves at 6-6:30 am every day, no fighting to get them up and ready for school - it's been SOOOOOOO worth the earlier bedtime wars. 🙂

i love how you made this new forum. it's hilarious!

well, y'know, some folks get chatty when they are waiting. Others just crawl into a hole and want total silence from the world around them.

We get chatty, and obviously are of the "hard times bring us closer together" kind of folks. The other "stfu while we're waiting" people on the VCU Central thread seem to be of the type where the more tense things get, the more they want to bash even the slightest noise-making critter. I envision them shooting crickets with a BB gun while studying for Step I exams.

I am not even waiting for VCU, but I would not have been able to get through this process (or parenting) without ShyRem. You all should pray that she gets into VCU, because you would all be lucky to have her as a classmate. I wish Vermont would have worked out for us Shy.

I am sure if I knew more of you, I would want to go to school with you too.

jbone, you know you are still my dawg.

gd, damn your alma maters. They BOTH screwed me over today. Ouch!! 😡

you know, if you keep posting here the VCU central thread will never reach 100 pages. food for thought... 🙂
