Effective recruitment and retention strategies for underrepresented minority students: perspectives from dental students.
An interesting journal article for several reasons:
1) Asians account for only 3.6% of the population, but make up (in this survey) 23.54% of enrolled dental students.
2) Despite potentially having backgounds of financial hardship, minorities do not necessarily choose the school offering the best financial aid.
3) A significant number of minority dental students are first generation with very few if any relatives in the dental field.
