Hey, anyone else on this list. USC is my #1 love and I wonder what my chances are (3.8+GPA, balanced 31 MCAT, volunteer, and 1.5 years of research). Anyone have any news?
 
I am also waitlisted at USC, which is my #1 pick also. Good luck!!!

wow, a lot of people (2+me =3) have them as their #1 choice...they should just fill the class with folks that would rather be there than anywhere else!
 
Hey, thanks Mexigirl! I don't think any of us are in direct competition because we all fill different (I think) demographics. I am a 22 yr old white female. So I can say, good luck to both you guys!!!

lol, i don't think it's as simple as that, but either way, i wish us all the best of luck; hopefully we all end up going to keck and play on the same volleyball team :laugh:

I know, but I have been struggling for months to discover a rhym or reason to all of this madness. I hope to see both of you guys on the camping trip. Lets all say a little prayer for Keck (please call me, please call me, please call me.....). 😍
 
haha, don't try to look for any reason; they, like everyone else, are just trying to fill the class with cool people, and that takes time...

Let's just hope that the cool people they took outright were also accepted at many other places that they would rather go. Last year I heard about 40 got off the alternate list. The previous year it was like 20. :luck: :luck: :luck:
 
Anyone have any word on how big the waitlist pool as a whole is?
 
As much as I liked USC, I just know that its not for me. I'll be sending in my letter to withdraw tomorrow so hopefully one of you gets this spot. Good luck to you guys.
 
Hey guys, because USC has a bacc/MD program and about half of the people leave the program, that should add about another 10 open spots. I myself withdrew last week.
 
I will join this club....I called the admissions office the other week and they told me that there are about 100 people on the waitlist right now and that they won't start contacting people untill after May 15th.

You are SOOOOOO right!! And I am a 23 yr old mexican single mother. Good luck to everyone on the Keck alternate list. I wonder just how much movement will occur from the waitlist, and how soon will that movement start????

I called the office after I got my waitlist letter, and they said to only send things like LORs, grade updates, etc. They told me not to send a letter saying how much I want to go there because "we assume everyone who stays on our list wants to come." So I just sent my recent transcripts and information regarding some recent research publications I was coauthor on. I hope this helps, but I don't know...

By the way, I was really torn about this decision... sorry to have held onto the two acceptances for so long...

Any idea how they usually contact people----phone calls, mail etc? The only thing I've heard that rejections have come via email for many people.....I'm not sure if that is the same for people on the waitlist??
 
i'm pretty sure, from reading previous threads, that Dean Quinn calls you. So if you don't have caller id - i'd sign up ASAP!! :luck:

I called the admissions office a few days ago to update my info, and the lady I spoke with said that it's most important to have the correct phone numbers because that's how they'll contact us.

USC automatically sends out secondaries to everyone that applies. You'll get one. You should be hoping they give you an interview. 😉 Good luck!

Just got pulled off the alternate list today around noon via phone. My alma mata waitlists me and then tells me I got in after I already move all my crap to UCSD. F*ckers...... 😡 +pissed+
 
You lucky ones that got in -

Did you do anything extra after being waitlisted? Letters, rec letters, emailing the dean, anything special? From past threads it's not entirely clear whether adding stuff helps or not...
 
w00p! I just got the call today! I'm officially going to USC! I'm so psyched. I was waitlisted back in mid-March. Interestingly I actually called the admissions office this morning asking if they received an additional letter of recommendation that I had sent.

Are you going to USC over UCSD? Either way,I don't see why you would be mad. If you prefer USC, you get to go to the school of your choice (most of us on this thread would kill to get the call you did), and if not, why do you care, so please withdraw so one of us can be so lucky.

Congrats to those who have gotten pulled from the waitlist!!! Would you mind sharing with us your numbers, male/female, race, and when you got waitlisted. Just trying to get a sense for who actually is getting pulled from the waitlist. Thanks......please phone ring!!!!!!

hehe....actually just noted that overeducated you have a profile...and I think i can assume that Steven is also a guy....which means everyone who has posted on SDN that they have gotten pulled from the waitlist is male

I don't know blonde hair and blue eyes that does add some diversity after all it is a dying group. 😉
 
Hey guys. Turned down my waitlist acceptance. Hope one of you are lucky enough who really want to go. Tried bargaining to see if they would match my other financial aid packages, no go. 240g's is just insane. Good luck to those of you who "have your heart set on USC" in Dr. Quinn's words.

I called Keck yesterday and the admissions officer who answered the phone said that people have been and will continue to be admitted from the waitlist. I don't think it's over yet!

Hey! Got a call Wednesday from Dr. Quinn, finally made the decision to accept it last night! In response to the earlier post, I'm female, blond hair, blue eyes - another stereotype for the non-diverse applicant I guess, was waitlisted early February.
