Hey All,

For those who did 20+ on the majority of the sections of the DAT;
How did you guys score on TOPSCORE and DAT Achiever??
If you could refer to Test # and which program I, and I'm sure many other SDNers, would really appreciate it!!!
THANKS!!!

I scored lower on those,,,

Hey L8dyv! 👍
Thanks for the reply! It seems that most people do score better on the actual DAT than these programs. I was just curious as to how much you improved by. Not your scores but rather +2 or +3 in which section, or which sections remained the same, or level of difficulty comparison (i.e. I am finding DAT Achiever A MILLION times harder than topscore, I'm wondering how that compares to the Real DAT). Thanks for help!!! 👍
Sincerely,
Rook

i haven't taken it... but i've read enough posts to get the idea that:

TopScore is about the same as the real DAT, or maybe a little harder than the real DAT... with the exception of the PAT which is much harder on the real DAT.

DATAchiever is much harder than the real DAT, with the exception of the PAT, which is about the same on DATAchiever as the real thing.

People's personal opinions will vary depending on the exact question set they got and the study materials used... but I think that's the general feel from most people.

Aside from reading comp, my scores all improved.

Topscore is a more accurate reflection of the real test, DAT achiever is just a great study resource.

Take into consideration not everyone takes a practice test as if it was the real thing. Most of the topscore/achiever tests I took simply to practice with time management and I wasn't too concerned with getting answers right. You need to make sure you never dwell on a problem for more than time will allow.

Getting one problem wrong and having plenty of time to not make stupid mistakes is far better than getting one problem right and potentially screwing up the last 10 questions because you lost track of time.

My actual DAT scores couldn't have been any more opposite my topscore marks. Good for the most part (aside from rc)

Topscore 3rd exam:
bio-19
chem-15
ochem-15
ts-16
rc-25
qr-17
pat-21
aa-17

Actual scores:
bio-21
chem-20
ochem-20
ts-20
rc-18
qr-19
pat-22
aa-20

I could post other scores but that is unecessary. My point is not to dwell on your practice scores. Use them like they were meant, to develop pacing skills and improve general knowledge by reviewing answers. I posted a pretty in depth take on the DAT after I took it back in April. Hope you find it useful.

My DAT experience

I just finished my DAT today! Whew! It's done!

I was really worried about taking the test because my DAT achiever scores were sooo low and my TopScore scores weren't much better. I have not taken biology yet, so I was feeling that I was being too ambitious taking the DAT before Bio. However...

Here are my scores from DAT achiever:
Test 1: Bio 16 Gchem 17 ochem 14 PAT 17 RC 20 QR 20 TS 16 AA 18
Test 2: Bio 16 Gchem 16 ochem 14 PAT 18 RC 21 QR 19 TS 16 AA 18
Test 3: Bio 12 Gchem 15 ochem 18 PAT 17 RC 25 QR 18 TS 15 AA 17

Here are my actual scores:
Test 3: Bio 19 Gchem 23 ochem 21 PAT 22 RC 23 QR 22 TS 21 AA 22

As you can see, the DAT Achiever could not have been used to predict my scores. Don't get down if you're scoring really low. I think the material on the actual DAT is much more general that than on the DAT Achiever.

One tool I found really helpful when studying that is not often mentioned here is the MCAT Audio Osmosis CD set. (Obviously, I didn't listen to the Physics or Verbal sections.) I'm in my car a lot, so by having these CDs I was really able to increase my study time.

i also experienced a similar trend.

In top score i was getting 19-21 on the bio. For Gchem and orgo, i was scoring 17's and 18's. On the real DAT i scored 26 bio, 22Gen Chem, and 18 on orgo.

For RC i was scoring 21-22's but i got an 18 on the read DAT. It turns out that my strategy for the RC section did not work too well on the DAT but it worked pretty well on topscore.

For math I got 18 on real DAT and i was scoring 19's on topscore.

I hope this helps.

I feel a bit better now. I am taking the DAT in a week 😱 😱 and I took yesterday the 3rd Topscore exam. Didn’t do too well on sciences. When I went back and I checked for the solutions, I couldn’t believe what stupid mistakes I did!!!! :scared:

I only used topscore and I used those same three tests over and over for about 3 weeks. I never studied for RC or QR and my actual DAT scores were on average about 4 to 5 points higher than topscore. The only area that dropped was the RC (by 1 - from 23 to 22). I just recommend taking the test as many times as possible and learning from your mistakes by understanding the idea behind the question!

👍 👍
Tell me about it!! My DAT is coming up and after the DAT achiever tests.... +pissed+ my computer almost went out the window 🙂laugh: ) I happy to hear there is improvement on the actual DAT. Thank you all for the wonderful responses. Keep them coming!!!!
Best of luck to guys!! 😛 You are all inspirations!

well, I scored 16 in all DATachiever tests in biology, and 19-21 in Topscore, and I got 28 on real test

yep, 100.0....so everything is possible, but can you imagine my mood after taking DATachiever???

I would not be able to stop myself from jumping out of my seat and screaming "f**k yeah!" in the test center if a 28 on bio popped up on the screen after my test! I would literally die of shock! That must have been a huge ego boost!

well, I didn't really expect these scores on real DAT. While taking the test I was seriously thinking about retaking it. When I saw numbers after finishing, I thought - there is probably a mistake here, so I'd better take my score report and run away

  I would do the same thing definately! The ride back home i would literally feel like a god

I didn't take Topscore or DATAchiever (actually i never heard of them before today), but I did take Kaplan. And not to really scare anyone, but i actually did slightly worse on the real DATs than on the Kaplan exam.

DAT score:

PAT: 23
QR: 26
RC: 25
Biology: 18
Gen Chem: 21
Organic Chem: 23
Total Science: 20
Academic Average: 23

I don't really remember my exact score for kaplan, but i do remember getting a 25 on the biology section (that's my major and my worst science score - go figure) and everything else was about +1 or 2.

I would bet your scores will go up by at least 2-3 points on the real thing. At least....

Average Topscore scores:

Bio - 19
Chem - 18
Org - 19
QA - 17
Reading - 20
PAT - 20

Real Deal:

Bio - 23
Chem - 22
Org - 23
QA - 19
Reading - 22
PAT - 24
