goljan audio on IPod?

hey all,

i got a copy of the goljan audio and i was wondering if anyone has experienced problems putting the files onto an ipod? for some reason when i update my ipod from itunes, it doesn't add the goljan files....any ideas?

Make sure the files are a format and a bit rate the ipod can handle?

i remember having this problem but i forget exactly what i did. I know I right clicked the files in itunes and converted them... to what? I forget but try that and see if it works

yeah it was probably .aac ... converting places the new file into a folder (so you would have to search for the file unless you know the default location).

check in over at the usmle/comlex step 1 forum, you can convert the files to m4b which allows you to speed up the playback so you can listen to an hour in 45min. it also allows you to bookmark so if you leave Goljan to listen to a song you can come back to the spot you left off at.

The lectures are in MPEG-layer 2 format even though they may say .mp3. I think I use dBpowerAMP music converter to convert these files. It converts them to MPEG layer 1 which should be compatible. Look for a free trial version online. hope that helps.

1. Import the files to itunes library

2. Select the files, and click "Convert to AAC" in the advanced menu

This step takes about 2 minutes for file, so you may want to do like 1 day at a time.

3. With a group of files selected, right click and choose "Get Info"

4. Put in Goljan as the artist, and "Day 1" or "Day 2" etc. as the album for easy organization on your ipod. You may also want to call the genre something like USMLE. This is all personal preference.

Now for the following, you'll need to do each file individually which is a pain in the ass, but it's iTunes fault for being stupid:

5. Right click --> get info --> Go to 'Options' tab

6. Check "remember playback position" (and skip when shuffling unless you want Goljan to come on during your awesome dance party)
