I just voted yes, but then changed my mind. I agree with the points that almost all postings in here are about ERAS right now and that must be annoying for people, but I realized that probably the ERAS subforum would only be necessary in August to maybe October of any given year. So it would just be dormant the rest of the year, probably isn't necessary after all.

No need to divide up further - there are a certain number of threads that get posted about ERAS every year, but lots of people register just to post them. I would wager many wouldn't even discover the ERAS subforum and would just post on Gen Res anyway.

It seems annoying to have a few ERAS questions on Gen Res, but creating a subforum would serve more as a dumping ground and people wouldn't answer the questions as frequently, IMHO. I would be interested to hear if people disagree with this perspective.

I disagree. You could argue that the Step 1, 2 forums tend to only be used during summertime when most people take them but we have them all the time. I think everyone has ERAS questions from 3rd years who are wondering about applying to 4th years going through the process. I think it's clogging up the residency forum right now and should be separate.

I agree. Especially if it was a general "applying to residency" forum rather than just an ERAS forum. People have questions about LORs and CVs and interviews and the match all through the year.

If there's a link to it from within the gen residency forum, that would keep it visible to the residents who want to help out and answer questions, while keeping the rest of the forum from being dominated by application questions.

Based on member input, we have added the ERAS subforum.
