(BTW, boo to getting restarted.....WAH WAH WAH)

When are most people going to show up in Des Moines for graduation?

I'm going to be coming from Chi-town and the Hosimovic wedding.

I plan on doing Chicagoan things like robbing old people and polluting the environment, then going back to corn town.

Where are people planning on staying?

Which bars should I pressure SGA into asking for discounts at?
Monday: Mickey's?
Tuesday: Drink?
Wednesday: Wellman's?

Give me some feedback!

Hahahahhaha

DMU slows down the entire student doctor network. Thats the funniest thing Ive ever ever ever read👍

And the lord came unto DMU and spoke unto them "Thou shalt start a mighty post, and all of SDN shalt tremble before your glory"

Hey thousandth, I still go to lady jane, Ally just wasn't there last time I was there. She cut my hair the time before though. Looks like I only have one more month to schedule! I too will be going to the max ho wedding. We'll hang with family in Chicago a few days and then head to Des Moines from there.

This is just going to give us motivation to get this thread going with even more posts........DOWN WITH THE MAN!

That Nate guy is such a hater.

On a side note...Endocrine blows & the first exam was freaking ridiculous. If there was going to be one unit that I thought was hard, I never would have picked god-forsaken Endocrine.

I'm gonna' post....OH, I'm gonna' post.

I'm gonna' post until my heart fills with joy.

My doc is skiing part of this week so I'm in the office doing stuff...

I checked for expired drugs yesterday.
I'm supposedly calling insurance companies today...to say what?

Lucky: Remember that Complications book..the one by that surgeon Atul Gawande? It was referenced in the first chapter of my health law book. I'm going to like this course!!!

Anyone have any magic on business cards?

Should I just go to Kinko's?

Cremaster and I got some from Kinko's and I think they came out really nice, but they were pretty pricey if you wanted the thicker cardstock and nice ink. DMAK got his totally free from some website somewhere. and they are nice as well..I'll ask him to post it.

On another note...what's with everybody going to class??? I came to drop off some mail and get a new battery for the laptop, and the only place left to park was in the ramp. Damn nerds...maybe they had a test.

UAAO sold em. Well at least I did back in the dizzay. It was like 12 bucks or something for 250 or 500. I cant remember. You should email who ever is in UAAO now.

yeah, but I want sexier one snow

Some gold embossing, things like DO, MPH and **** behind my name...

You know.

The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid.

Really, you have to get the audio files from iTunes or whatever. If you've never read Bill Bryson (or heard), this should be your first book.

It's about his childhood in Des Moines in the 1950's-60's. His reflections will take place on streets and in places you know from latter times. He will also make you near fall off the treadmill several times with laughter. He reflects on many aspects of pop culture that we never really analyze...and knows more because he saw them first hand.

Luky and DMACC listened to one of his books with me on our first drive to Mason City.

Reading this doesn't give you Bill Bryson's Iowa/London inflections and run on sentences. Must be heard for best effect.

NEW TOPIC:
I've been thinking about Superman Returns. Some disparaging remarks about it. I agree in some ways. Superman was my boyhood favorite, but as an adolescent I liked X-Men best (in no small part thanks to Chris Claremont's stories and Jim Lee's, Alan Davis's, et al's ability to draw fantasticly Amazonian females with bust lines always near critical shear). So while some of Superman's stuff is hokey (underwear on the outside?), and his powers are too great to be really interesting I like him. I remember running aroud the house with a towel tied around my neck and my mom screaming, "Ray, take off my bra and panties!!!" Wait...wrong story.

In any case, we totally overlooked some things very important in the Superman Returns story.

1) Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor. I LOVED it. I mean he was very very funny and evil. I could watch it again and again for him.

2) Superboy/2. This has the potential to meet our postmodernist pain and unsurety needs. If this kid is half superman, then he would be just strong enough to do damage, but just weak enough to be interesting. Like Neo in the Matrix (first episode). Strong, but not invulnerable.

NEW TOPIC:

Jean Grey (Famke Jannsen) was on Nip Tuck Season 3 as a trans-sexual (transvestite from Transylvania...jk) with a short peri-rectal pouch. She only dated teens since they were inexperienced and wouldn't know that a penis shouldn't bottom out at 5 sontameters.

Portier... I don't know if this place is any good, but they are offering free business cards over the internet. You only have to pay for shipping. http://www.freevistacards.com/?key=2

Lucky... I was thinking of you the other day when we got snow, and I thought that sledding would be fun. I still haven't gotten back on a sled since our 10 foot flight! We need to take the little guy sledding soon. We're going to take him skiing for the first time in about 10 days.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in Des Moines. It'll be really nice to have everyone back together again. One last time...

What plans does everyone have for graduation day?

Important question to ask you guys::::

The program that I want to rank as my top choice has their programs listed a little confusing. I wanted to apply for the traditional osteopathic internship with a IM specialty track attached to it. However when you go to the natmatch site for the DO match, the program is only listed for the traditional rotating internship (1 year without the specialty track) and the categorical IM residency (3 years). Should I register for the traditional rotating internship or the IM residency? Do you think that the osteo internship that is specialty track is linked and they just assume you will apply for the 3 years of IM?

The reason I want to only apply for one year is I don't want to have to sign for the full three if I decide (due to family reasons) that I want to finish up my last two to three years somewhere else. Any one else dealing with the DO specialty track internships?

This is what DO-Online says about specialty track internships. Tell me if what I'm reading states that a traditional rotating internship includes the specialty tracks?

"FAQs What is an AOA specialty track internship?

AOA-approved specialty track internships represent a greater departure from the traditional rotating internship by offering sufficient specialty concentration within a rotating internship that is more focused to the practice needs of that specialty. Specialty track internships are only offered at institutions which have AOA-approved residencies in that specialty. Currently, AOA-approved specialty track internships are available for internal medicine, internal medicine/pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, otolaryngology/ facial plastic surgery, urological surgery, and pediatrics. In contrast to the special emphasis internship, completion of a specialty track internship does confer credit for the first year of an AOA-approved residency in that specialty track."

Is this the trophy wife I think she is? What happened to Queen Bee?

I was just thinking about our sledding adventures/mishaps the other day! My @ss hurts just thinking about it.

We were thinking of going to a place for lunch after graduation...maybe Yanni's because they just moved into a new place. And they have garlic knots....mmmmm....Well, their old place had that back room we were going to reserve, but now that they're moving, we'll see. Did you guys have something in mind?

Glad to see my thread I started has attempted to destroy the world........my master plan has come to fruition......

I have one more interview tomorrow and then its decision time. I'm looking forward to seeing people at graduation as well!

I just moved into a 6 mo lease apartment with the fiance............moving sucks👎

hey its missing 3 posts under my name🙁

Well Dartos and I will be fishing hopefully.......and I'll bring the wife's dad with us. He used to catch marlin with his bare hands so a little bass fishing will be a piece of cake for him.

And that's the website I used for the business cards. They have other options you can pay for to make fancy shmancy cards if you want Portier. I can rub some of my chest hairs onto each card to give them a tint of gold.

Lucky - I am who you think I am... I had an identity crisis when I came to MI! I was thinking that we can always rent the park out that we had for the last day of class for shortly after the ceremoney. I need to look at the schedule again to see what looks like the best idea. I know they have something after the ceremoney, but I don't know how long it last. Where are you guys & families staying at during your stay in Des Moines? The Renessance is sold out. We were looking at either the Marriott right next door or the Embasy Suites.

So, class, are we all going to show up on time for kindergarden today so we don't get tardies and get sent to the principal's office?

We might head out to West Des Moines...enjoy suburbia while we can. I was looking at the Wildwood Lodge, Country Inn, or the Best Western out there. Might have to make a decision fast just to secure some rooms...between our two families, we're looking at 5 rooms.

During the week we're staying at a Marriott Suites I think in West Des Moines by Jordan Creek. We went with that so we could have a kitchenette and the living room area since the little guy still takes naps.

Just got back from my interivew at DMU. The school and you guys are awesome. You get 👍 👍 in my book. Hope to see you in the fall.

You wont' see most of us....and we won't see daylight.

INTERNSHIP HERE I COME!

So, I just interviewed at a TY where you leave at 1pm most non-call days...5 months of electives...great faculty, free food all the time, $1000 "educational fund" and $250 towards a PDA or accessories...frickin awesome...but the average Step 1 score is 242 for them....lazy geniuses....

We're going cake tasting tomorrow!! MmmmmmmmMMMMM

Any thoughts? I have to turn my list in by Jan 26th.

The only advise I would have (though I am not a student) is to call the program, and ask them how you are suppose to rank their program. You don't have to give a name. If they gave you an email address to contact them with questions, you can use that.

I just had an interview at University of Illinois today. They were surprisingly nice and friendly. They are number eighteen in the country for amount of research grants in psychiatry so I thought they might be not so receptive to a DO who did absolutely no research. Cool campus, nice faculty and residents. Right on taylor street in downtown chicago. Pretty cool. University of Chicago on monday. Last interview is university of colorado. We are going to stay and ski for a week. ALMOST DONE BIATCHES!!!!

Sorry...mistake.

Hey Portier--

Pressure SGA? What makes you think you have the power to pressure SGA?! Just 'cause you're big man on campus now...wait...you're not on campus...that must make me big man on campus! ; )

Be sure to let me know when you are coming down, and I'll be sure SGA looks into a little somethin' somethin'!

Justin

Email John Luce - he's President of UAAO this year!

I posted under my wife's sign on the other day... Sorry! The post about UofIC was me...

Dartos. Out.

You're my sea daddy...

Already looking into it and seeing what we have in the budget right now. Katie is on it. Looks like maybe Thursday night. I think she is looking for bigger venue than wellman's, not enough space there.

I just got back from NY and loved it. The good thing is that they don't have a linked internship so I can still take the great neurosurgery emphasized internship I was offered through the match and then head out there. I"ll find out this week if I'm in, and the attendings thought I had a great shot......oh wait I've heard that before:scared:

...And for the record, there's really no pressure.

The thing is, it isn't very masculine or military to say, "I'm going to write Katie and the gang a polite email and hope they don't ignore me." or "I'm going to pout if I don't get my way."

Saying, "I'm going to bulldog this." is much more sexy.

When in reality...you just hope someone listens...

We always listen to you ray, cause we miss you.

Well I would but I don't want them to shoot me down if I decide not to stay the full three years. I might anyway, but I would like the option not to.

I've been playing Deadrising this weekend for Xbox360.

It's a zombies at the mall game which is pretty cool.

Limitations:
1) Only one save slot...so make sure you're happy where you are.
2) If you quit after dying you get to save your status, but have to start the entire story over.... If you save then quit you can go back to where you were when you volitionally stopped...
3) The Convicts...there are these convicts driving a HMMV with a HMG around the commons of this circular mall...and they've stymied me for like 8 hours. I seriously am upset that I can't whack them with my rake or whatever. I tried a 9mm, I tried a SMG I found in a fountain (conveniently), and they still drive over me and shoot the hell out me and my NPC survivors I'm trying to get back to the safe room.

Other than that, I ordered a used xbox and got those games I know you all liked.... I'm going to play GTA, Star Wars games, and Prince of Persia....

I start Hospice on Monday and am going to finish my MPH paper.

I need to graduate already cuz' I got partying built up in me that needs to get out!

Prince of persia is awesome, you'll like it Ray. It's cool if you play the whole trilogy sequentially.

Another one you'll like is Xmen Legends and Xmen Legends II. Especially if you are a comic book reader. Fun to play multi-player as well.

COMLEX-PE done! Cant wait till I get my fail letter so I can fly out to Philadelphia and take it again. 😱

Double G I take mine Feb 13th, so save me a spot on your flight when I join you for the retake!

Wii two player is awesome...................awesome

I have the two thrones right here, and I think that I got the 1st one off ebay..

Is that the trilogy?

You also need warrior within, which was the best one in my opinion. You get to play as your evil alter-ego, who weilds a bad-a$$ chain whip and is basically unstoppable.

sounds like real life...................
