When you say attendance is mandatory for anatomy labs, do you mean they're actually going to take attendance and penalize you if you're not there? Or just that if you establish a pattern of not showing up they'll notice?

I'd say more the latter. You're not going to get dinged for missing a lab or a teaching session, but have the courtesy to let your lab partners know.

"Mandatory" takes on a slightly different connotation in med school vs. undergrad. In med school, it means you're expected to be there, as your presence is valuable to the learning process, both yours and your lab team's. It doesn't mean, you're going to get 0.9% knocked off of your grade.
(This doesn't apply to PBL sessions, where you have to sign in to get credit).

That said, if you miss multiple lab sessions, I can't guarantee your grade won't suffer, but I don't know the specifics.
