Question for in-staters applying to UNC: Have any of you gotten your secondary? If so, how long did it take from AMCAS verification till receipt? Is it paper or electronic? Thanks
 
I got it like july 28th and my amcas was verified in late june. It's a word document you have to fill in, print, and send along with residency forms and crap.
 
i got the UNC secondary last week (in-state)...my AMCAS was verified on July 18th if that helps...so that's about 3 weeks or so
 
I'm OOS and applying to UNC and WFU. UNC sent me a screening notice on Monday. Not holding my breath! Nothing from Wake Forest so far.
 
OOS, applying to WFU (or BGSM, apparently), UNC, and Duke. UNC sent me a screening notice, I have secondaries in to the other two.

When do you think UNC's gonna get back to the OOSers?
 
In State. applying to UNC, Wake, and Duke. I just received a confirmation of secondary application receipt from UNC- they said they would contact me soon to schedule an interview. I should be complete at Wake sometime this week- I'm just waiting on LOR. and Duke- oh duke- all those essays- I'm editing them all right now, I should submit sometime this weekend or early next week.
 
I'm instate and I'm applying to UNC, Wake, and ECU. I got UNC's secondary 7/27 (verified 6/29), but am still waiting for them to call and schedule my interview. I'm complete at the other two, but haven't heard anything else.
 
Another in state here, applying to UNC/WF/ECU, complete at UNC and ECU but Wake is taking its time with my LoR's.
 
I'll add all the little tidbits of info...
In-state, applying to ECU/UNC/Wake, maybe Duke (that secondary is absolute murder).

Complete at Wake, sent in UNC secondary, so should be complete and hopefully receiving a phone call/email from each sometime in the near future...good luck to everyone!
 
I called UNC last week, and they said not to expect a call until they finish interviewing Early Decision candidates. They didn't say when that would be though. I also called Wake this afternoon and found out I got an interview over the phone. Just wanted to pass that along incase others wanted to give it a shot. Good luck, everyone!

Do you know which days they interview?
 
I just called Wake Forest and the woman who answered wouldn't even acknowledge that my file has been reviewed.
 
I think they interview Tuesday through Friday. Not 100% on that though.
 
Skinnylindsay, I saw you got an interview at ECU, congrats! I was just wondering how they notified you and when you were complete there?

Also, has anyone actually gotten an interview scheduled at UNC yet? I am still waiting for them to call (I submitted my secondary on 08/15/07 and got an email saying I was complete on 8/20/07)

Checking in... in-state, just verified a few days ago, waiting for UNC and Wake secondaries. Anyone have any idea about wait times?

Hopefully I won't be rejected pre-secondary and will get to join you all in this thread for the year. It should be fun. :scared:

Thanks! 🙂 I was notified by email yesterday, however, when I called to schedule my interview, the lady said that they had tried calling me several days prior. I had no missed calls or messages though, so I'm not sure if it was my phone service, or an error on their part?

I still haven't heard anything from UNC though about scheduling an interview. None of my friends have either, so I guess they're just taking their time until they're done with early decision applications.
 
yeah, i got my "supplemental application received" e-mail from UNC on 8/14, and i'm still waiting on an interview call. hopefully it'll be soon...
 
I just got an email from ECU this afternoon titled "Interview Invitation," I was complete on 8/13. The email just says you get to interview and gives you a phone number to call to schedule it. The woman on the phone was very pleasant and signed me up for October 1st. She didn't mention trying to call prior to emailing me so I'm not sure what their procedure is. Good luck!

Congratulations! I was hoping that you'd also hear from ECU soon.
 
I'm confused about the last bit of the "composition" ECU asks you to write for their secondary. What are they looking for when they ask about "your major reaction to contemporary life experienced during the last several years"??? Do they want me to talk about how much I loved partying in college (personal life)? Or are they looking more for something like my thoughts on the current political climate, health care problems, etc? Please help!

Also, for those of you have done UNC's secondary, I am wondering which essay topic did you choose, and why?

For the second part of ECU's composition, I tied in the reaction to contemporary life part with some travels abroad. I think that if you have any travel or study abroad experience, it should have likely given you a unique perspective on how aspects of life and our standards of living, healthcare, fun, etc. are unique in different parts of the world...hope that helped!
 
Does anyone know what Wake's status page says before they reject you pre-secondary?

(I'm afraid I've just found out... waiting for the email)
 
Something about we will contact you about your status. If you passed the screen, the message will say that we are sending you the secondary.

Is there any OOS applicant who received interview invites from UNC?

I just sent my secondary application last week, and tried to wait patiently but it is HARD!!

I'm in-state and still waiting for a secondary from UNC (come on, alma mater). After Wake's rejection, I'm not holding out too much hope, though.
 
I got rejected from Wake but got UNC's secondary (I'm in state), so don't give up hope! As far as I know no one, IS or OOS, has gotten an actual interview invite from UNC yet. But, if anyone reading this knows someone who has please correct me!
 
...I just realized I wrote both essays in UNC's secondary (it says choose one of two), but I answered both....😱

I guess I am done at UNC.
 
I'm in-state NC... My friend is a med student at UNC and asked a professor today about the interview schedule. She said that interview season starts on 9/18. I don't know if that means early decision or what, though... I'm not early decision, and I haven't received a call. When I called yesterday to the admissions office, they told me to expect a call sometime next week at the earliest.

Also - one of my LOR is super late, but I turned in ECU's app around 8/14. Should I go ahead and send in my other LOR and then wait and update my application at ECU? It's tied for my first choice so I want to interview there ASAP...

Also (sorry!) - Wake - My status on their webpage says "complete" but I haven't received an email yet?? This is all post-secondary...

I don't think they will review your file until they have every LoR you said you would send on your secondary, so I don't think it will make much difference if you send the LoR you currently have but wait for the late one, wouldn't help but I guess it wouldn't hurt either.

Try calling them. It seems like the majority of SDN interviews from Wake resulted from people calling to check their status post secondary instead of just waiting for an email. Not everyone will get an interview from just calling though, I didn't.

Anyone else care to share what they wrote about for this part of ECU's secondary?

Today has been the best day for me so far in this process... got invitation to complete UNC's supplemental and I checked my Wake Forest status and says they will be sending me a supplemental!
 
You will know that Wake has given you an interview if your status changes from something like they have all documents and you're under review to something like your review is complete. I don't remember what the specific wording was. If you call and ask for a status check, they'll tell you you have an interview if you do have one.

Mine was pretty lame, I said that the major focus of my life the past few years has been getting my academic self in gear and getting my grades up. So basically it was just a plea for them to overlook my bad GPA.

Congrats on UNC and Wake Forest!
 
In my ECU secondary I wrote about two jobs I've had (1 in college and 1 after I've been out of school (I've been out 1 year)). Both jobs were with disadvantaged populations, so I just wrote about how my "reaction to society" is that through working in both rural and urban communities, I've realized major disparities in the quality and availability of healthcare between various socioeconomic and geographic populations. I used these realization to answer how I plan to work in a rural area to provide medical care to the underserved communities of NC. I went into much more detail to make it sound less generic, but that's the general idea.

Anyone know how long it takes UNC to call to schedule an interview after they get your secondary (in-state)?
 
No, but I got an e-mail on 8/14 (about a month ago) from UNC saying my supplemental app was complete and still haven't heard from them.

Hopefully they're almost finished with the Early Decision people and will get to us this week...
 
I finally got the call from UNC last Thursday, and will be interviewing on the 24th. I was complete 8/3, so it's been a while. They seem to be really busy in the office right now.
 
I was complete at UNC on 8/14 and they called me on 9/11 to schedule an interview. I'm on 9/19 btw.
 
Complete at UNC on 08/20 (email), called this morning (09/13) to schedule interview...which is on 10/05.

How did UVa go, if you don't mind my asking (PM me if you want to reply but don't want to "put it all out there")? I'd love to go there (no interview yet, though)... after UNC of course 😍
 
complete at chapel hill on 8/14 (email); called 9/12 to schedule interview; interview date 10/1

complete at wake around 9/1 (not sure exactly when - i checked the website and it said complete, but i never received the complete email); called on 9/10; interview 10/26

Also - is there a wesbite to find info about specific interviewers and the questions they ask/how they act in interviews/etc.? I know this site has interview questions asked, but nothing about the interviewers themselves...

oh - and i'm in state.
 
Yay! I was complete at UNC 8/20 and they just called me this morning (9/13) and my interview is on 10/02. I'm so excited!

UVa was awesome, if you've never been to Charlottesville it's a great town. The med students there seemed really happy with their academic and social life, the hospital is great (and undergoing huge expansions), the admissions staff knows absolutely EVERYTHING about their school (the financial aid guy was hilarious), AND the interviews are totally laid back (every interviewee mentioned that they did most of the talking). I loved it!

Oh and the place where you get lunch is pretty cool too...right off of the Range 👍
 
FINALLY!!! My UNC interview's on 10/8. I'm nervous already!
 
I called UNC to schedule an interview today- and its a good thing I did apparently I wrote my phone number incorrectly on my app and they had tried to call me earlier to schedule.... oops
