Akron is a lovely city. I have to preface this by saying I don't know much about Summa, but a number of AGMC staff have defected there. Akron General has been in a mess. I don't know if it is cleaned up yet, though. AGMC had 2 EM physicians commit suicide, and one is supposedly now in a Turkish prison for allegedly killing his wife (Turkey won't extradite to the US because of the death penalty). The internal medicine program has fallen apart, and the ICU has also been a mess. My personal opinion of the medical education department (the head of which was an EM physician) is they are feckless political cowards with no concern for the residents. Rumor has it Cleveland Clinic was considering taking over AGMC, but backed out when the local newspaper heard of it.
