So... I have actually read thru every score report thread written in July and have calculated some numbers for those who are curious about 'average' DAT score.
I used AA, Academic Average.

Test dates: 07/01~07/26

Sample size = 103 (about 16% of usual applicant population in 26 days)

Mean = 19.68 (with Standard deviation of 1.74)

Median = 20 😱

Mode = 19

Range: 16~27

Score (# of people): 16(1), 17(7), 18(15), 19(28), 20(24), 21(18), 22(6), 23(1), 24(1), 26(1), 27(1)

If you have 22, you are at least top 16% of SDNers who have taken DAT in July.😀
If you have 23, you are very close to breaking 2 standard deviations. 👍
If you have 24 or above, I hate you. j/k. :meanie:

My conclusion: SDNers rock! 👍 or This year will be tough. 👎

These numbers look like average DS DAT scores. Conclusion: SDN equals acceptance to dental school... right? Haha, I wish it were that simple. I'm sure alot of SDNers also don't post their scores due to intimidation. This is interesting however.

I can imagine that people who don't do so well do not want to put their score up and that causes the avg to be higher on the posts than the actual applicant avg is. If you don't get good grades, no one really cares what you used and you aren't so proud of them so you don't want others to see them

Cool, thanks for all the effort Bruin! Based on the ADEA guide this year, it seems an average for the majority of schools for accepted students was around 19. SDN members seem to do well. Thanks again Bruin!

SDN's average DAT may be on the high side since not everyone posts their scores and usually the ones who score well create a thread.

In order to bring down the avg on SDN (19.7 in July) to the national avg (17), we need about 210 more SDNers with 15.8 avg.

And if we really have 210 people not posting their scores, it means that about 50% of DAT takers are using SDN. (about 630 people take DAT in 26 days. 210+103 = 313 )
