Around mid May we usually see a mad scramble to be first in line to submit the ds application through TMDSAS or AADSAS. There appears to be an overwhelming belief among SDNers that ”early” applicants have a definite advantage. It is unclear how those whose talents do not meet the dream will benefit by being first in line with the application. The only information available regarding the timing of the interviews and acceptance comes from www.predents.com. The disadvantages of using data from predents are the question of reliability of the information submitted by the applicants and the fact that predents applicants do not represent a random sample of the applicant pool.

Overall, the numbers do not support (except for Baylor) the notion that without good stats "early" applicants fare better either in obtaining interviews or acceptances. It should be underlined that whatever conclusions we may be tempted to draw from the information applies only to TMDSAS applicants who submitted information to predents.com. It is always best to apply early and, preferably, the DAT should be taken before the end of August. Applicants with good stats are unlikely to be turned down simply because their application was submitted "late".
