Hey Everyone! I just received a letter from Buffalo saying I have been placed under "Continuing Review" which the adcoms states that it means they are not prepared to take final action at the present time. I was just wondering if anyone got an interview from them yet or if anyone has gotten the same letter stating "Continuing Review"?
 
Mine says

I received the same letter today. Does that mean we are in the waiting list?
 
Hey be happy i havent heard back from them yet. At least you know something. They told me when i called that they havent started reviewing applications yet.

got the same letter today. I have no clue what "continuing review" means but at least it's not a rejection 🙂
 
It'd better not be the same thing as "re-review" at UoP because it basically means you've been rejected.
 
ugh. i hate the 'continuing review.' its worse than not hearing anything.. they should not have even contacted 'continuing review' people. save a tree or something.

ps i havent heard anything yet from buff
 
I think it's more of a toss-up...you may get an interview or you may not. So basically it is a waiting game that sucks.
 
I got the same letter today. I look at it as a positive thing. At least they didn't reject me from the get go.

It seems as though everyone got this letter so maybe it's for people they are considering. I'm not really sure though
 
They asked me for TOEFL score a few weeks ago. However, yesterday, I got an email stating that my TOEFL is waived with my degree in US, and they started to review my application. :scared:
 
I'm posting this info from a new account because my existing username could allow me to be personally identified.

Coming directly from Dr. Brown, Acting Chair of Admissions at Buffalo, the school feels that they interviewed too many people last year for the approximately 90 slots. Last year about 440 were interviewed; this year they are targeting only 300.

So this may explain why so many people are being placed on Continuing Review.

Continuing review means that your application has been reviewed, but you were not granted an interview at this present time. However, your application will still be considered for future interviews in the next few weeks/months or what not. Don't worry about this, you're not on the waitlist or anything yet. This is just a way for Buffalo to let you know your current status. Just be patient, and as long as it doesn't say that your application will no longer be considered, then you're ok. :luck:
 
My friend also got the same mail from Buffalo. However, I didn't. Should I worry about it??? I haven't heard anything from them since they asked me for the secondary fee.. 🙁
 
from what i gather, it means they looked at your application. however, they were not convinced that they should invite you for an interview immediately, or they were not comfortable extending that offer yet. i think they just want to wait a few weeks/months to get more applications?
oh well, a letter informing you of where you stand is better than nothing i think.
 
Is there anyone who applied to Buffalo but did not receive this letter?

I ask because Buffalo has not even invited students for interviews yet, so I'm getting the feeling that there's no reason to worry if you have received this letter.

i received an email saying that they will review my application in early August and i should get a written notice about my status in early September. Than, i did not hear anything, My aadsas status says nothing ( not even something like under review) or anything.

and i did not get anything like continuing review.

is this a good thing, i am getting worried.
 
Everyone who has applied will go through a period where their application is being processed to go under review. If you haven't gotten that "under review" update, then just be patient.

Relax, under review means that your application is completed and they are starting to look into the applications.
 
I hope you take this better than it will likely come across, but from my understanding, as some others suggested, it means that they reviewed your application fully for first round and rather than granting you an interview, they put you on the back burner so to speak. If you get an interview at all, it will likely be post-December.

I believe that everyone that applies to Buffalo that isn't offered a first round interview gets this notification. I haven't heard of anyone getting flat out rejected from Buffalo this early on unless they were missing an essential part of their application. I do think that late interviews and rejectees all first get this update.

In summary, it isn't good, but it may not be terrible.
 
yea i got it too! mine was all damaged in the mail though haha.. at least its not a rejection!
 
I received this letter yesterday. Did anyone who received this letter earlier this cycle got interview invitation? Thanks!
