About 90K per year. And it's in Los Angeles if you weren't joking. 😉
Yea, I figured everyone that interviewed got this letter. Do any other schools do this? Not that it really matters too much..just curious.
I had my interview 9/25 and received it yesterday as well. When I first saw it come in the mail I thought it was a rejection, lol.

I just got the letter now, and read it! Actually it is a good letter, and at least I know I have chances for acceptance. They ask to sign and retun the blue sheet to indicate that I am still interested in USC and I hold USC as high priority in my plans. I am not sure if other schools send the follow-up letter! I think USC knows that many students consider school as their back-up plan and they want to see if there are students who have received multiple interviews and they are not interested in USC anymore.

I received it too, but then I read the letter and it says "you are now one of a select number of individuals, whose application has been ranked for the 08-09 acceptance cycle" I think based on this letter our chances are very high to get the offer on december 1st. Hope to get an offer on December.

ok not to burst anyone's bubble..
but the assistant dean of admissions(?) Brian Steele announced after the Financial aid presentation that all the interviewees will transition to be a "post-applicant, where everyone is waitlisted until fall admission 2009" so in my opinion, EVERYONE who interviewed should get that letter..

I would not worry much. People who have already received letters interviews in the first couple of days offered, aka when the offices were probably less busy. Give them some time, USC gets relatively more applicants being a private institution.
i had an interview there on the 21st and received the letter on the 24th.
Hi, I interviewed there on the 21st too, but did not get the letter everybody is talking about. Do you live in LA itself?
Maybe you guys who got the letter are a few select who have been narrowed down. Makes me sad I did not get it 🙁
It took me about 3 weeks to get it. They are supposed to be sending it to everyone so don't worry about it. maybe give them a call if you are that nervous about it.Hi, I interviewed there on the 21st too, but did not get the letter everybody is talking about. Do you live in LA itself?

i didn't get the BLUE SHEET. because i was aware of this letter, I thought i was going to send something back to them. All i have is a single page letter. Hmmmm i'm kinda worried
I thought everyone receive the letter too, but couple of my friends did not receive it either!! They are either not consistant or they are narrowing down this year! or maybe they want to send the follow up letter first to their top candidates before December and then after December 1st they start sending it to the rest of interviewed students.
One of my firends interviewed at USC week after me, but he received the letter a month later than I received mine! Maybe the timing of the letter is related to your rank since they have ranked all the interviewed students based on their stats! Anyway, I am sure you will receive the letter soon.
Shawny8351 what did the one sheet say? Did it have you send anything back or was it just a statement of facts? Thanks
it says,
'Dear Applicant, (my name)
This is a follow-up to your recent visit to the USC...Having successfully completed the interview phase of the application process you are now one of a select number of individuals, .... In assembling our class, a system of rolling acceptance cycles is used whereby offres of admission are extended to post-interview candidates.. continuously until the class is finalized... Although you may now or soon be considering offers from other programs, we hope you will continue to hold USC as a hight priority in your plans... We appreciate your interest in USCSD and we look forward to continuing to work with you...'
This is what is in my letter. nothing that mentions about 'Blue Sheet'
hmm 'Dentist707' told me to email the school. could have been the mistake from the admission.

The blue sheet is the one that you sign and return to school so they know you are still interested in USC! I think they made a mistake and forgot to include the blue sheet in the envelope. If you call them, they will mail it to you.
Okay... I also got the letter only...
I called this morning and they said it was mistake...
Everyone who gets the follow up letter is supposed to get blue sheet as well...
So, they sent me email version...
BTW, i interviewed oct 30th & the letter was dated oct 31st...
Hope this is good sign...
Good luck guys...

I have an interview at USC, and I was wondering what is the "writing sample"? Is it like an essay? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but I couldn't find anything about it on the forum search.
Brian clearly stated that everyone will get a follow up letter within a week from their interview date. If you don't, call and see what's up. The purpose of the letter is to ensure you are still interested in attending USC so they do not have to waste their time giving out acceptances to people who will end up holding a spot at USC for months without mentioning they are no longer interested in attending. From his example, one student was notified a day before orientation to see is he/she could make it, because another student deposited a check for a seat but never contacted USC for a withdrawal. I personally do not think the time it took to receive your letter has any say in whether or not you receive an acceptance letter Dec. 1st.
The writing sample is a random question that you can answer without any knowledge of it. Given the fact you don't live in a bubble. It's purpose is to gauge your writing style and abilities.
