I know a lot of you guys have given your opinions on the top study guides for DAT preparation, but I'd like to take it to the next level.

For those who have taken the DAT with success, which guides/tools do feel helped you most for EACH section. Example, maybe Kaplan helped you on Bio but didn't do the job for PAT. Copy down the bottom and give your opinion. From the little I know, here's my take:

Bio- ?
GC- ?
OC- Destroyer
QR- ?
PAT- Crack DAT PAT

Bio- Princeton Review MCAT Hyperlearning Biological Sciences, Cliffs AP Bio, Kaplan Subject Tests, Destroyer
GC- Princeton Review MCAT Hyperlearning Physical Sciences, Destroyer, Kaplan Subject Tests
OC- Destroyer
QR- Princeton Review Math IIC SAT book
PAT- Crack DAT PAT

👍👍👍👍

the princeton book might be a lil too much. but its great cuz it gives you a different perspective, plus its not a book with a huge mass of dry facts and info. as you read along the questions it asks you gets you thinking. so i would mos def invest in it.

Bio- Kaplan
GC- Kaplan
OC- Kaplan
QR- Kaplan
PAT- Crack DAT PAT

I thought Kaplan was the absolute best thing in the world for Gchem and for QR, and that it was pretty good for Bio and Ochem. The strategies are good for PAT, but the practice is totally insufficient.

Thanks for the input guys. Anyone else with an opinion about this?

Bio- all undergrad books (review mostly) 21
Gen. Chem-MCAT exam crackers 20
Org-knew from undergrad 21
PA-Kaplan for sure!!!! 20
RC- I have been reading for years so I didn't practice for this section 19
QR-I got this book called "secrets of mental math" (makes you quick in calc.)

its not worth buying kaplan for the DAT. I wish I never did except for the PA part.

Only studied for a month 4hours/day

you will be fine just DONT STRESS IT!!!! THIS IS KEY

Bio- AP Cliffs Bio, Campbells Textbook
GC- Kaplan BB, Destroyer
OC- O-Chem as a Second Language, Destroyer
QR- Internet
PAT- Crack

For Kaplan General Chem, are you guys saying that the methods they teach you are good or the practice exams are good?

GC is the last section I'm having a little trouble with so I'm trying to understand all the problems on the practice exams.... would you guys say once I understand all the problems that I would be ready to do decent (I'll take 18-19 and won't complain) on the real DAT?

I took the Kaplan Gen Chem last night and scored a 17 by 1 point, I remember guessing on a few so I got lucky but the real score should of been 16 based on knowlege.... so just wondering.

Thanks

oddly enough... the reason this section is easier than most college courses is that u dont have a calculator. this limits the nitty gritty tough math problems.

i felt kaplan did a great job in the gchem section. i would recommend going to a local library and picking up an AP chemistry book to supplement if u want free extra problems.

to ace gchem... dont make dumb math errors like screwing up dimensional analysis or writing the free energy equation wrong.

Anyone want to update this with their own personal DAT experiences?

I think we can add Cliff's AP Biology to the Bio section for sure.

Bio- Kaplan Book, Kaplan Online, Kaplan class, AP cliffs, Campbell, Reece, and Mitchell and Destroyer
Chem- Kaplan, AP princeton, College text books, and Destroyer
Orgo- Kaplan, Destroyer, and text books
Didn't start studying for other sections. Most likely crack dat for pat and qr.
