As the ds admission flood gates open, those who do not receive acceptances as of Dec 1 will continue to wonder what their chances are for acceptances if the interviews are scheduled after the magic date. Below is the information compiled from www.predents.com, showing acceptances as a function of month of interviews. The majority (78%) of those accepted in 2008 had interviews before Dec. 1. While 22% of the acceptances result from post Dec 1 interviews, it should be noted that over half of these acceptances were from 10 schools- namely, Pitt, Nova, Buff, UCLA, Case, Columbia, USC, Boston, Tufts and NYU.

PS:

The total number of enrollees for the ds listed was 4302. Repondents represent the total number of applicants that were acepted and provided interview information on predents.com. Enrollees/Respondents Accepted column represents the class size/number of predents.com reponders. The monthly tally represents the number of applicants that were interviewed and accepted for individual ds. Since it is not possible to over extend the number of columns and since the numbers in question for the Dec-May is relatively small, the numbers were lumped together. A summary of the numbers involved is given.

See the PS under the OP. The first column has been retitled to Enr/Resp Acc. If still not clear holler.

Doc Thanks you always have the best stats and charts for everyone. I have used your charts a lot.

Hey Doc this info is great, but do you have any of this for UPENN?

Thanks for compiling these data, doc toothache. They're especially interesting for those of us applying "late" this cycle.

It's been mentioned elsewhere, but I would predict PreDents.com respondents do not necessarily comprise a representative slice of the overall applicant pool. The type of student who is pro-active about submitting his/her info on PreDents may also have tended to be pro-active about (a) getting good grades, and/or (b) submitting his/her application relatively early, thus leading to greater a # of acceptances among PreDents respondents which resulted from pre-Dec interviews.

I would suspect that, among non-PreDents users (71% of enrollees) who have similarly competitive resumes to successful PreDents applicants, a greater proportion than 22% may be interviewing after Dec and still getting accepted.

At least, that is my wishful thinking. :xf:
