I thought we should really get the countdown going. I figured that if we started a thread that was titled "waitlist" we might get more people involved in the sharing of information.

Latest info from Seconday Thread:
Three people have been accepted from the waitlist thus far.

Stats from previous years:

2008: 32
2007: 34
2006: 40
2005: 29
2004: 31
2003: 39
2002: 33
2001: 47
2000: 33

I know there are a bunch of us playing the waiting game, so lets commiserate.


 
The ranked position #50 (me) has been withdrawn. I'll be going to school in the midwest and am very happy with my acceptances. gl to everyone still in limbo! 👍
 
Hi telechica,
Great idea to make a specific Waitlist Thread. I'll be checking here often! So 3 people have been accepted from the waitlist so far? That is great news! Do you think UW will issue us a new number each time that happens or do we just keep calling to find out whether more people have been accepted. My thought is that they issued people a letter saying you have been "offered a spot on our alternate list and you have two weeks to respond to let us know whether you will accept this offer." So I think this next week will be 2 weeks from when I got the letter. If people got accepted elsewhere, then maybe they do not want to sit on the alternate list and will decline the offer. Therefore, our position on the wait list will improve. Do you think we'll be issued new numbers then?
 
Thanks for creating this list, I'm sure it will be helpful to all of us in the coming weeks. I think the admissions office will probably just contact you when your number is up, rather than issuing you a new number every time there is movement from the wait list.
 
I've asked if numbers will be reissued, and they said it would be impossible for them to constantly reissue numbers whenever the list shifts. If people drop out, it just means that they will skip that number as they move down the list.

I was also told that second interviews were no longer offered... was anyone else told this? Instead, they said that town-hall-style forums will be held on May 11, May 13, and May 18.
 
May I ask does anyone of you know that if I wasn't issued a waitlist number, does that mean that i m unranked? The only email I have ever gotten was about I was being waitlisted and it asked whether I would like to keep my position.

The email that I received gave me my ranked number. It specifically said that I was on the "ranked alternate list" so I think that you are probably on the unranked list. You should call the admissions office to make sure though.
 
I called the generic admissions number this last Monday, April 13th and the secretary picked up..I asked if she could answer my questions about the waitlist and she said "Let me transfer you to Stella." So that's who has all the answers. As of Monday, 3 people had been accepted off the wait list.

Maybe someone else can call the office next week to see if there was anymore movement and then post their findings? If we alternate calling then they won't get annoyed at one particular person 🙂
 
I just called admissions office a few minutes ago and found out they have taken 5 people of the WA waitlist. I believe I spoke with Jenny and she says that if your number is accepted off the waitlist they inform you through an email first, then send a package through the regular mail.
 
#1 on the MT alternate list was offered a seat yesterday and she was elated to say YES!

norainclouds07--you said you're under 15 so your time is coming soon! I'll be really excited when you post that you got accepted because that means we'll be somewhere above 11, right? Do you mind sharing what number you are? I think I saw you posting on other forums I'm on..maybe Creighton or Hawaii? Did you get into either of those schools? Will you be heading back to the big island or will you go to UW if you get accepted? Good luck!

i'm in today at #13!!!!! i'm still waitlisted for creighton and got in to hawaii, but will be withdrawing that acceptance so i can go to UW!!!

i hope you get in soon too :luck:

Telechica...how are you feeling about the waitlist? It seems to be going pretty fast, doesn't it? What's your ballpark #?

I'm riding the bubble at number 33 hoping that this year comes out on the heavy side of the average. Lets just hope for lots more waitlist movement!!!
 
does anybody have an update of what number they are at on the waitlist?
 
Hi fellow waitlisters,
I just called the office and found out that they have accepted 15 people off the waitlist as of today! Hope it keeps moving quickly. I also asked whether there was a ranked list and an unranked list this year for Washington and she let me know that there is justone ranked list. Can someone else call next week and post their findings?
 
Got the call this afternoon! They've accepted through #16! 🙂

Omukazi...congratulations! I think I saw you on the OHSU thread too. Do you know whether you're going to OHSU or UW yet?
 
They're both great schools, but UW has been my top choice for as long as I can remember, so I'm pretty set on going there. I'm glad I get to stay in the Pacific Northwest for medical school, regardless.
 
Called yesterday and the nice lady I spoke with said they're up to 21. Let's hope this movement continues next week! Good luck!

I'm with you... I called twice today and was sent to voice mail both times.

Nobody has any updates?? Oh well, after a few more days there won't be much movement to update. Good luck everyone.
 
I tried to call admissions again to get an update on what number they're on, but was sent to voicemail again!

Anybody else want to give it a try and post it here for us?
 
I called on Monday and talked to Stella and they were at #21 but she said she'd expect more movement this week and next week...that's weird, I've never been put through to voicemail when I call the admissions line. I'll try again in a little bit and post my findings!
 
Called yesterday afternoon and they were still at 21. Hopefully it starts moving today.

They have accepted through 31! I received a call on Friday and email this morning. I have been bouncing off the walls all weekend, I am so excited! Good luck to everyone still waiting!!

Ruraldr..thanks! May I ask what # you were on the waitlist?? Keeping the hope alive! I just tried to call the admissions office but got voicemail. I'll try again later today to see how far they've moved.
 
Any speculation on whether they'll be accepting more people off the waitlist this year since they increased their class size?

I actually wasn't on the waitlist--was an out-right accept from earlier in the year...

DRQUACK01 --- Are you sure?? Were you on the Washington waitlist or a different waitlist? I just called and they said they've accepted through 33, not 37. Please tell me the truth! I want it to be through 37!
 
That's strange that you got different information. I was actually at the admissions office when they told me that they were through number 37. I hadn't checked my email yet so they told me in person that I had been accepted. You should call back and confirm.

Question - for those who have been accepted, has anyone heard where their site for first year will be?
 
Just called the office and they've accepted through #39! Come on waitlist!
 
Has anyone heard about any recent movement? I cant believe they are down to 39 already and its barely june!
 
I emailed Stella earlier and she just replied saying they've accepted through 40 as of today. Anybody have any idea how much movement there was in previous years in June and beyond?
