Can I play too? Dc or Maryland is fine for me as long as it is a weekend cause I'll be on research rotation. Great idea! I wanna see you incoming people and hopefully not dissuade you from your path with my tired bloodshot eyes and occasional House MD demeanor 😉
 
Of course I would love to get together in Baltimore (home!!😍). Of course I'm also going to be in Blacksburg doing research all summer... so it totally depends on the weekend and timing of everything and such.

I vote for NYC! Lots of free events, great bars, and exciting nightlife!

The only issue I would have with NYC is the cost. In a smaller city like Baltimore, hotels, parking, food, adult beverages, etc. are all going to be a LOT cheaper than in Manhattan. As a soon-to-be starving veterinary med student, I know I can't afford a day or two in the Big Apple.

So True! But I recently pricelined a hotel, next to central park south and for 1 night was like $160...Seriously don't laugh, that's pretty cheap for NYC!
If we end up in there, I don't mind sharing a room w/ other SDN'ers to help cut costs!
 
VEGAS, anyone??? Rooms are REALLY cheap right now and loads of fun stuff to do....great nightclubs, awesome pools, shows (no more Danny Gans 🙁), awesome food (on par with NYC) and gaaaammmmblliiingg 😀. A lot of hotels have suite-only rooms too, so they are easy to share and bigger than a postage stamp!

C'mon, if y'all can fly to NY, you can fly to Vegas. Cheap flights coming out here now. My dad saw one from Baltimore for like $160 - insane.
 
So I'll be flying to NY this wednesday....unfortunately its for my great uncles funeral and we are flying back thursday to florida! but i thought of all you SDNers when I found out I was going to NY, lol!
 
I wish I could afford NYC, but I think I'll have to skip out if we have it there. It's just too much money not only for travel (which isn't SO bad from baltimore), but also because everything else costs so much more there. 🙁

Yea I agree, how about we plan a NYC or even Vegas trip some other time...unless someone wants to donate to our social/travel funds 😳

As of now, we seem to be tied for DC and MD...does anyone have any specific restaurants or bars they'd like to throw out? I'm so unfamiliar w/ the areas so not sure what areas to even consider....someone mentioned Georgetown, by the waterfront any thoughts?
 
And what was the decided date of said get-together? Baltimore/DC is better than NYC for me too!

I know someone else already mentioned Nacho Mama's in Canton. I haven't been there, but have heard really great things about it. The Golden West Cafe might work, too. It's in Hampden - their website is here: http://goldenwestcafe.com/
 
Update - We're inching closer to Marylan....unless someone can post more suggestions for DC.
For Nacho Mama's in Canton or Golden West Cafe/Long Bar - both places seem like great options - good food and beer selections - although do either offer music via jukebox, DJ, house band??
 
My boyfriend is fairly active in the local music scene, so I only ever go to Golden West with him when he's seeing a friend's band play. I know they have music on those nights, but not sure about any others! 😳
 
I'm still voting for Nacho Mama's. I haven't been there in over a year and... hubcap margaritas!?!?!

Plus there's lots of other restaurants/bars in the Canton area if we choose to move on. I don't know about Hampden, I've never been out there.

I know we've all been scrambling to finish our programs (I'm still trying to finish an online nutrition course 😳)....so just need a head count - who's still down for the get together??

I thought afternoon would be good so it would give folks time to come in and then time to go home if they were only in for the afternoon. Like around 3PM?

Seriously, I have never been to this place, but once I read that they serve margaritas in hubcaps, that was all I needed to know...

Awww, I can't make it anymore. That's the only weekend my SO and I both have clear to go look for housing again in Blacksburg, unless we want to still be looking for apartments the week before school starts!
