Why College X? Essays

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Do your research. Pick a program that the college seems to take pride in, find the mission statement, and/or determine what the focus of the university is (primary care, research, underserved populations, etc), then tell how that fits you and what you want in a school/in your career/as a doctor. One school I applied to encouraged life long learning, so I discussed an elder gentleman who I befriended while volunteering in a nursing home who had gone back to school and earned another degree after he retired.

What is the best way to do this, do you talk about things like residency matches, campus, prof, etc. Could someone share some examples please?

i'm talking about location, curriculum structure, special programs... anything BUT residency matches, lol.

Aside from stating what you actually like about the school (you have to approach residency matches with delicacy, if at all), regurgitate their mission state or whatever it is they seem most proud of.
