So I just got my results back. I am a little bummed with the scores as I expected higher.

First ever practice exam - 32
AAMC 34-37
AVGs PS 12.5 VR 10.5 BS 11.5

Actual results- PS 11 VR 9 BS 12 WR T

I scored 10 or 11 on every practice verbal, never a 9.

So I was expecting a PS 11 VR 10 BS 13
I received one point lower on each section than predicted.

Do I retake this on July 30th to bring this up to around a 35. I have a 3.98 cum and a science GPA of 3.97 with a lot of good research and clinical extra curriculars. Does this score drop me out of contention for all the top schools on my MD apps?

You would be crazy to retake.

You expected a 34, and got a 32? Count your lucky stars...that is a perfectly good score.

With your GPA and MCAT, you have a very good chance of an acceptance. Go with what you have.

your stats are good enough for acceptance, but getting into a top school will be less of a "lock" with the 32 mcat. retaking is dangerous, especially if you were not scoring 3+ points higher than what you got.

your LizzyM score is still competitive, right? a 32 + 40 (rounding gpa to 4.0) + 1 (the extra point accounts for half the students accepted have scores lower than the median) gives you a 73.

penn had a 3.8, 35 mcat average last year (as per their website) and their lizzym score would be a 73. you have a shot, at least numbers-wise, but the 32 makes it more of a stretch i guess.

gl!

Don't retake unless you want a better shot at the top tier. Barring disastrous interviews, you are in to med school as is. It just might not be your dream school. But hey, M.D. still follows your name.
