When do you graduate?

If you wanted to, you could still apply for the 2014 class if you graduate in May of next year.

Those stats are not terrible! To be honest your sGPA and cGPA are a little above the avg for most matriculated students and your MCAT score is right on the avg for most matriculated students as well.

I think if you apply and get your materials in at the BEGINNING of the next cycle you will put yourself in good position to be a competitive applicant at all the Podiatry schools (if you choose to apply to them all).

If you re-take the MCAT and score higher it will only strengthen your application (obviously). If you didn't take it again I think you would have a legitimate shot of being accepted to NYCPM, Barry, and OCPM for sure. You might be borderline for the more competitive schools (DMU, AZPOD, Scholl, TUSPM) but I still think you should def give them a shot and apply and see what happens!

If you retake the MCAT and do better, your chances for scholarships increases. It could mean the difference between no scholarship and $20,000. Imagine if I told you you could work hard for a few months and make twenty grand. You'll probably get in with your stats, but up your MCAT and save some cash!

If you are thinking that it is too late or that you don't have a chance...it's not too late and you do have a good chance. Even if you applied in Feb/March you would still have a good chance of getting in.

If you are sure that you want to do Podiatry then apply now. Your EC's are great, GPA good, and MCAT is not bad. What was your break down? As long as its not something like 9/9/3 then you will be ok. Retake the MCAT if you want but I say you should apply now and if needed...retake.

The reason I'm not applying this year is because I don't want to chance having to reapply because of my MCAT score. I feel stats are probably going up every year and while a 21 worked in the past, it may not work this year, who knows? Also I'm not 100% positive about podiatry yet, I want to shadow another podiatrist and maybe see a surgery (I've been strictly premed until about a yr ago but realized part of me wants to do surgery but also do outpt care which works great for podiatry). Retake the mcat... 25+ will give you a decent chance at most DO schools... As a DO, you can do your residency in one of the surgical specialties. I have heard that OBGYN and General surgery are not that competitive. I you are not 100% sure, I would suggest you to take the mcat again. You dont wanna do something and regret it later. I made the same mistake and I am paying for it now... I am not happy every time that I have to go to work...
